Book read in Australia between 2010-2016.
The book is set I believe in England (or around there), the main protagonist (male) works at a university in the computer technology field, and becomes interested in the ability of human consciousness to be transferred onto the computer.
The entirety of the book explains his previous research, and why the protagonist is interested in this field. 2/3 through the book the protagonist meets a woman who convinces him to upload his consciousness earlier that required.
The last 2 chapters deals with him uploading his consciousness into the computer and finding out the woman deceived him. It literally ends with the protagonists consciousness as a computer program.
