Lydia Timpson | 4 comments Which authors are an insta-buy or inst-read for you and which do you avoid like the plague?

Anything by Nora Roberts or Adrian Tchaikovsky I'll usually want to read and anything by Clare Sager is in my basket before I even realise it.

But I will not read anything by Cassandra Clare and sadly, I've read several books by James Kennedy and they are just not for me.

Cassandra 🍁☕️📚 (blondie2611) | 151 comments My insta buy authors: Vi Keeland, Sabaa Tahir, Leigh Bardugo, Sarah J. Maas, Cassandra Clare, Ali Hazelwood, Carissa Broadbent, Stephanie Garber, and Christina Lauren

I can’t get into A.L. Jackson and Saffron A. Kent. I can’t get into their writing styles at all.

message 10: by Gypsy (new)

Gypsy (ignited_red_queen) | 25 comments Instant hell yes: Kelley Armstrong, , Richelle Mead, Gena Showalter, Lisa Gardner, Lisa Jackson, Holly Black, Robert Dugoni, Robert Bryndza, Fredrik Backman (sorry if I misspelled his name, Rachel Higginson, Marissa Meyer, Sara J. Maas, Ruth Ware, Riley Sager, Mike Omer, Clare Mackintosh, Tessa Bailey, and Cara Barastone that's only a few that I didn't have to think twice about.

Not necessarily a No more like a maybe, I'd have to really think about it maybe get a sample before buying their book or maybe just get it from the library instead, lol, anyway they are :

R.F. Kuang, don't come at me, it's not that I hate her books they are just not for me. I started to read The Poppy War and Babel and I have yet been able to finish because the political war info just drags for me.

Leigh Bardugo is again not necessarily an instant no, I did enjoy Shadow and Bone for the most part but not necessarily a favorite.

Colleen Hoover, the books are just way over hyped, I tried to read a couple and I could not. They were not for me, although a friend recommended me Verity and I trust her judgement so I might make an exception.

message 11: by Brian (new)

Brian | 186 comments Steinbeck, Hemingway are an instant yes.

Don't really have an automatic 'no go' author. I've read a few classic novels that were painful, but it's hard to base an opinion on one read. If l did that...l'd have never read another Dickens...after Bleakhouse.

message 12: by Joan (new)

Joan | 55 comments Instant YES: Stephen King, John Grisham, Freida McFadden, Kristin Hannah, Jess Lourey, Dan Brown. NO: Colleen Hoover

⋆˚࿔Elise ˚⋆ (wwwgoodreasdscomlydiaelise) Instant YES: Leigh Bardugo, Stephanie Garber, Sarah J Maas, Freida Mcfadden, Jennifer Lynn Barnes, Holly Black, Carrisa Broadbent, Sabaa Tahir.
Instant NO: Colleen Hoover

message 14: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2 comments An instant yes for me is Holly Jackson! So far I've loved all of her books and they're some of my all-time favourites!

Currently, an automatic no for me is Colleen Hoover. I haven't read any of her books (so my opinion isn't based on her writing) but after hearing everything online about the scandal, she's just a no from me. No hate to anyone who likes her books but I can't bring myself to support her.

message 18: by Micaylah (new)

Micaylah | 52 comments I haven't read enough books to be able to decide whether they'd be an instant yes, but so far I'd say,
Heck yes: Stephen King and Riley Sager

Heck no: Colleen Hoover

I have read a couple books from Stephen King that I didn't like, but that's not going to stop me from going to check out his books first everytime I enter a bookstore. I only read a couple books from Riley Sager, but my opinions on them are great so far.
I haven't read anything from Colleen Hoover, but hearing what she apparently glorifies is an instant turn off for me.
