The book is about Young girl Time Travels from a stonehenge in Australia back in time to the stonehenge in England, she connects with another child who ends up being sacrificed in a peet bog/marsh. I would have read this in the early 2000s.

From memory the child is sacrificed towards the end, but I think the discovery of the mummified body of that sacrificed child is possibly what prompts the Australian girl to travel back in time.
