► UNSOLVED: One specific book > YA book where people began developing powers. One of them had the ability to insert himself into the memories of others and make them think they had known him for a long time. Read it about 10 years ago.

T Jay | 1 comments I can remember that some people in the book had developed powers. One of them had the ability to insert himself into the memories of others and make them think they had known him for a long time. Another had the ability to make earthquakes. These two are supposed to be on the same team, but In one scene, the earthquake guy uses his earthquake power to try and kill the guy mentioned above because that guy has his mother(or someone he cares about, can’t remember exactly) hostage in some way, but the attempt fails.
The earthquake guy is only on the memory guy's team because someone he cares about is held hostage(in some way) by the memory guy. The memory guy is very insidious, using his power to make people think he is close to them.

Google Books preview of Zeroes by Scott Westerfeld - Capn's suggestion:
- There are different cover images.
