I'm good with The Plot in June, no waiting list at the library 😉I've read The Stranger Beside Me, and I'm interested in both others. They are on my list, I'm in no rush, but I'll join in a buddy read whenever anyone else wants to read any of them.

Thanks for your input, Ioana. Fair warning - it sounds like The Plot recently announced a sequel, scheduled to to published in October, somehow entitled The Sequel: A Novel, so we'll see how it goes. :-)
Why do so many stand-alones need to have a sequel?Oh well, we'll see. I'm ok to read this one before the 2nd one comes out. But should we move it later, closer to Sept-Oct, just in case we want to read the 2nd one too?
I just recently read The Plot & will be interested to hear what you all think if you decide to read it. Though I agree, why does there need to be a sequel?
I haven’t hear about a sequel for The Plot, I haven’t read the book yet soooo, I’m probably not going to join that buddy read.I’m also interested in reading all 3 of those Bundy books, I’m good with later in the year and I’m thinking we should have a separate thread for each of the books, I’m sure there will be a lot to discuss.

We can definitely read it later, like in September or October, in case we decide to read the sequel.
I feel as though the question about the sequels was addressed in Yellowface - with the pressures that the publishing companies put on the authors to come out with their next book. It's easier to build on the story you've already written than to come up with an entirely new concept. Personally, I'd rather wait longer for a more unique book, but I'm certain that strategy is not as profitable for publishing companies - hence all of these sequels and books written in the same genre that "build on the existing bodies of work."

I hope the book (and the sequel) are good - I look forward to the discussion. Hopefully, you'll remember some of it and come back to talk about it with us when we get there! :-)

Hi Linda, for sure you don't have to join us in the buddy read for The Plot...but if you're at all interested and thinking you needed to read another book before we start...you don't. The Plot is the first book in the series and none of us besides Patricia have read it. You don't have to read Yellowface or anything else in advance of reading the book. Just to clarify. Hope that helps you decide. There are so many good books to read, it's hard to pick between them all.
I'm glad you mentioned that you'd like a separate thread for each of the Bundy books, as I was thinking of one thread for all, just to not have too many threads on here. But now I think you're probably right. They are all going to have different slants and may spoil information in other books.
I think I will set them each up, maybe at the end of June or something, and we can comment as we read. I'm just thinking that some have already read some of the books, and some may not want to read one or more of the books, so maybe that will worked.
Unless anyone has any better ideas? :-)
Here's what I'm thinking about doing...August - The Stranger Beside Me: Ted Bundy: The Shocking Inside Story
September - The Phantom Prince: My Life with Ted Bundy
September - The Plot
October - A Light in the Dark: Surviving More than Ted Bundy
October - The Sequel
I will set up a thread if anyone says they want to join. If you'd rather read a book in a different month, just let me know. I'm not set in stone - I just like to have some general plans before all these books line butt their way ahead. :-)
I've read the Aug book, but I'll join you in Sept for both books. The Oct Ted Bundy book has 182 days wait and I don't think I can make it; and the other one will be released Oct 1st, and I can't commit but if any of my libraries gets it, yes!

If you'd rather just read them when you get them, that's OK too. Just let me know. :-)
I'll be away Sept 15 - Oct 15, but really, don't change anything for me. I'll catch up with you when I get the books.

I should be able to read the buddy reads at the above times. My only concern is The Sequel to
, since the pub date is in October, I will just need to find it at my libraries.

Linda wrote: "I suppose we can wait to see how the holds look. We might need to push it a bit."Sounds good. I have no idea how popular the book will be. Here we are, just assuming that our libraries order the book. I guess that is another possibility...but hopefully, they order it and they order enough copies so we both don't have to wait too long.

We've discussed reading The Plot after reading Yellowface.
And we've discussed reading more about Ted Bundy after reading Bright Young Women. The three books below were discussed.
The Phantom Prince: My Life with Ted Bundy
The Stranger Beside Me: Ted Bundy: The Shocking Inside Story
A Light in the Dark: Surviving More than Ted Bundy
My thought would be to set up a buddy read, but I'd like to see if there is any interest. Otherwise, we can all just read the books whenever we get around to it.
Just for argument's sake, what do you all think about reading: The Plot in June, and any or all three of the Bundy books in July - September? We could set up one thread or three separate threads for each book, depending on what you all think.
Any suggestions would be most welcome. :-)
