Melissa | 3779 comments For anyone who wants to plan ahead - looks like the 2 winners for BOM August are The Midnight Feast and Funny Story. I'm not sure which one is going to be included in the games but will post once we're told.

Melissa | 3779 comments Looks like we got our book to start with for the final
battle. Anyone who wants to contribute please volunteer! All books have to be planned by the end of Round 3, Week 1. All books must be read (started and finished) during Round 3, Week 2. Please make sure you can read your book during that week.

Let’s aim to do our best and overlap as little letters as possible (3 if we can!)

Razorblade Tears

Books that star with ARS…. And go!

maria helena (mariahel) | 1924 comments I’ll probably not be much help with the battle books this time. I have limited access to books these coming weeks because of vacation and travel.

Melissa | 3779 comments Trisha - Can you add Bear to your shelf, thanks!

message 820: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3779 comments Ok, we have everything on our spreadsheet. I've checked everyone's shelves and added anything that was missing so the numbers match.

If you're reading something and you can hold off to finish for Round 3 that would be helpful! I'm heading to bed soon so if not, hopefully Louise or Leslie will be around to add it.

Great job everyone!! Once we receive our battle book we can continue planning.

The struggle for survival in the arena is a never ending cycle. Sometimes a tribute will luck into a boon but they are just as likely to be a victim of sabotage.

The Randomizer was let loose on all of the teams' resource supply piles. The Arena Masters are not heartless, the news isn't all bad. But the Arena is just a wee bit harder as we get closer to crowning a Champion.

In Round 2, 1 pile receives a boon (15% page point increase), 1 is left alone, and 2 are the subject of sabotage (10% or 15% page point decrease). Impacts to resource supply piles are team specific.

Your team's randomizer results

Weapons: Left Alone
Shelter: 10% decrease (protected, no change)
Food: 15% decrease
Defense: 15% increase (protected, no change)

Christina T (crysteena73) | 182 comments I finished 3 books yesterday. Is it ok to still put them on the SS?

EDA...I added them anyway. Hope that was ok.

message 826: by Leslie Ann (new)

Leslie Ann | 941 comments We got

Man to work with for our next battle book. Anyone?

message 827: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3779 comments This is why I stay out of the casinos LOL

@Christina - if they were finished before the end of the round, unfortunately, we can't use them. We only have 1 hour after the round ends to add books to the spreadsheet. If you finished them after the end of Round 2, then we can.

message 828: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3779 comments There's the obvious MAN or MANiac, which brings a few options up.

I don't have anything in my TBR but I can search for something if no one else has anything.

message 829: by Christina T (new)

Christina T (crysteena73) | 182 comments Oh ok well I wasn't able to get them on the SS in time. I'll take them back off the SS and my book games shelf after I wake up for the day.

message 830: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3779 comments That's alright. Next time if you have them on your shelf I can add them. I always double check everyone's shelves at the end of the round. The timing is just tough for me as the round ends at 5am my time so there's a good 6 hours that I'm sleeping people could still be reading.

Sorry you read them and they didn't work :(

message 831: by Leslie Ann (new)

Leslie Ann | 941 comments I do have
The Many Daughters of Afong Moy on my tbr and it is available on libby

I am surprised we don’t have more time , it is 2am for me.

I ended up adding them to my Book Games shelf when I got home from work this morning. Timing is tough for so many of us. I work over nights and sleep during the day. I have so many challenges going on right now I'm struggling to remember which ones have rounds that start and stop and when they do. The end of this round got away from me. If I'd planned better, I would have left a chapter in each one to finish up today but hindsight and all that. They work for other challenges so definitely not wasted books.

I have the same problem, keeping all the deadlines straight…

message 835: by Leslie Ann (new)

Leslie Ann | 941 comments Moy would be very tough for the other team.

Does anyone have another book ? I don’t want to be that mean…

message 836: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3779 comments I’m glad they could be used for other things.

It is a really tough time for rounds to be over!

MANy is a good word to start with too and yea I agree that would be a really tough book for them to find something.

Anyone have any suggestions.? Or willing to read anything? We do have to plan the Battle Books before the end of this week.

message 837: by Trisha (new)

Trisha | 156 comments I've read Man, Fuck This House (really short horror story) and The Many Lives of Mama Love: A Memoir of Lying, Stealing, Writing, and Healing

The first one was just okay (but short) and the second one was really good!

message 838: by Roe (new)

Roe (roelynn) | 278 comments I also loves Mama Love so if anyone is interested READ IT! so good!!!

Sorry to be a spoilsport, but want to point this out sooner rather than later. The rules say: Books can be read in any language, but titles must be in English.

We'll see whether we can get back to sending you letters like Man to work with - sorry about this one.

message 844: by Roe (last edited Jul 15, 2024 01:25PM) (new)

Roe (roelynn) | 278 comments Rats! I got nothin then! Noir is the only Noir book i can find but then we would just be rereading it over and over lol.

Sophie (drsophie) | 5684 comments Mod
KU has Noire... Would at least allow us all to move on a bit.

Right I'll leave you all alone and stop interfering in not my team.

message 846: by Trisha (new)

Trisha | 156 comments Just a curiosity question ~ it's just a silly reading challenge so it doesn't really matter but,

I'm curious why we keep pushing back on teammates willing to read a book that would make the selection tougher on the other team.

it IS a competition and this is the second team to return really tough selections that force us to use more than 3 letters but that isn't what we're doing to them.

I may be the only one feeling this ways. . .I was just curious since I've seen us say no to many selections

I mean. . .or we could just return Noir right back
and YOU guys can read Noire
lol 😉😏

I've read Noir - it was book 2 and not too bad.
Others might have other selection options 🤞🏼🤞🏼
