Melissa | 3779 comments @Trinia - it would be ERY I believe that’s what made me rethink the book. It would be really hard.

Ok sounds like we’re going with Air Raid Book Club! I’ll let them know.

message 552: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3779 comments I just reread the rules and subtitles don’t count for the battle LOL

Oh well I told them Air Raid Book Club. At least we tried to be nice SMH

Stephanie | 286 comments Ok district 7 is sending Lub Dub Love.

*adds Over Our Dead Bodies to TBR*

message 559: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3779 comments Does someone want to volunteer to read something? Id like to make sure everyone on the team has a chance to read for the battle if they want to! So if someone who isn’t reading yet wants to please let us know!

Just please make sure you can get the book and you know for sure you’ll be able to read during that week.

message 560: by Stacey (new)

Stacey (boydsmom) | 1377 comments Overnight Sensation is actually on my TBR, so I'd be happy to read that.

message 561: by Nick (new)

Nick Vallina (MisterGhostReads) (mister_ghost) | 110 comments I would've volunteered to read Over Our Dead Bodies: Undertakers Lift the Lid (I love books relating to thanatology) but wanted the whole team (any who want to anyway) to get a chance to get in there haha

message 562: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3779 comments Sounds good Stacey! And thanks Nick!

More than likely we’ll need some people to read multiple books but it’s good to give everyone else a chance! :)

message 563: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 507 comments There's 10 total books we'll have to read right? I'm waiting to see if I can fit any of my libby holds!

message 564: by Natasha (new)

Natasha | 1140 comments My apologies for not reading the Crete book. I've been busy with work and was prepping for a party last Saturday and didn't have much reading time.

I have a question about the battle. Are we going back and forth with our books before the battle? Does one person have to read the book or can multiple people read it? Do we get more points if more people read the book?

message 565: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 375 comments Also waiting to see if any of my books might fit too, been searching into between the rounds :)

message 566: by Leslie Ann (new)

Leslie Ann | 941 comments I would like to read a book for this challenge. I will try to check often to see what is next….

message 567: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3779 comments Yay! So glad everyone wants to participate. We’ll wait and see if anything Leslie, Dawn or Sam (or anyone else) has for the next ones.

message 568: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3779 comments That’s alright Natasha! We were able to fill the spot with a different book. We all understand life gets in the way of reading at times.

My husband just said so at the end of the month I’ll get my wife back and I was like ummmm nope try the end of the summer 😂😂

message 569: by Melissa (last edited Jun 17, 2024 01:09PM) (new)

Melissa | 3779 comments Basically we’re creating a ‘chain’ linking the books together by letters. So we have to find letters at the end of their book to overlap with the beginning of our book.

We will be reading a total of 10 books during that week. Anyone can read the books and in any order but they all have to be started and finished during that week. Each book only has to be read once by one person. So no, we don’t get more points if more people read the same book. Each book we finish we get 5 points for (as long as it’s in order of the ‘chain’. )The winner of the battle gets 5 extra points.

message 570: by Natasha (new)

Natasha | 1140 comments I'll be on a plane for four hours on June 22 so I can hopefully read a book for this chain (if it's needed).

message 571: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie | 286 comments Me again District 7 is going with Iona Iverson's Rules for Commuting.

message 572: by Roe (last edited Jun 17, 2024 02:08PM) (new)

message 573: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 507 comments As tempting as Ingenue is, I don't think there would be anything to follow so we'd all just end up reading Ingenue a bunch of times. haha

message 574: by Roe (new)

Roe (roelynn) | 278 comments Samantha wrote: "As tempting as Ingenue is, I don't think there would be anything to follow so we'd all just end up reading Ingenue a bunch of times. haha"
true!

message 575: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3779 comments Yea, probably not a good idea to go with Ingenue LOL

I'll put you down for In Good Company and let District 7 know.

message 576: by Roe (new)

Roe (roelynn) | 278 comments sounds good!

message 577: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3779 comments @Nick - please add One and Done to your shelf :)

message 578: by Nick (new)

Nick Vallina (MisterGhostReads) (mister_ghost) | 110 comments Oh damn. I was too busy at work to write my review after finishing it on my lunch break so I didn’t update shelves. It’s there now!

message 579: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3779 comments No worries! Thanks!

message 580: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3779 comments JL has messaged me that she will have to unfortunately withdraw from the games due to some personal stuff going on. We'll miss her on the team! :(

I'm not sure if we'll get a replacement but I've let the Mods know.

message 581: by Roe (new)

Roe (roelynn) | 278 comments awww! hope all is well!!!

message 583: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 375 comments Sorry to hear that, hope all is well soon

message 584: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie | 286 comments Hi from district 7 sorry you guys lost a member. Hopefully it’s not too bad. Our next book is Anything you can Imagine.

message 585: by maria helena (last edited Jun 18, 2024 05:16AM) (new)

maria helena (mariahel) | 1924 comments I could read In Every Dark Corner

It’s a collection of short stories but I think it fit the challenge requirements.

message 591: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie | 286 comments Hopefully everyone is doing well during this heatwave.

Our next book is Nerves of Steel.

message 592: by Melissa (last edited Jun 19, 2024 05:11AM) (new)

Melissa | 3779 comments Unless someone wants to read an EEL book (there are a couple surprisingly!) we will have to go with STEEL

Anyone want to volunteer? Let’s try to see if we can find something that they would need 4 letters to cover at least.

message 593: by Leslie Ann (last edited Jun 19, 2024 05:50AM) (new)

Leslie Ann | 941 comments I can read The Steel Kiss

I found one I'd read. Eeli.

message 595: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3779 comments I think we should probably go with Leslie’s book because if not we’ll be going back and forth with not many option, if any. ELI or EELI probably wouldn’t have any matches. 🙃

That ok Leslie? I’ll let them know.

message 596: by Leslie Ann (new)

Leslie Ann | 941 comments Works for me!

message 597: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3779 comments Ok!

Actually an eli would have left them with way more options than they left us. Eli has 13 common words and 78 Total words including the names Elizabeth and Elijah. District 7 gave us Eel which only has 2 common words (eel and eels) and 24 total words most of which are eel associated compound words.

message 599: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3779 comments That true Christina I wasn’t thinking of names as being an option.

Sorry guys I’m all over the place with the battle. I’ve been busy at work and trying to read my brain is fried 😬

message 600: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie | 286 comments Getting close to the end and District 7 next book is “Is Shakespeare Dead”
