Lucy | 271 comments I've finished Maddy's Oasis (all updated on SS and GR). Would The Great Gatsby count as 'luxury items' for plot point? I'm not sure what else would qualify if that doesn't.

Catherine (royaltiescmb) | 660 comments WOOOOOOOW, I get off line for the evening and dang we go through two more challenges. You guys rock!

Update: added to sheet

Time for district 8

WOOL in title
white colour cover (50%+)
#8 in series
white text on cover
item related to district on the cover: textiles
author first & last initials in TEXTILES
set in India (50%+)
plot element that can be linked to the district: textiles

Out with kids ATM so will go through what we've got in a bit.

We have District 8
- WOOL in title
- white colour cover (50%+)
- #8 in series
- white text on cover
- item related to district on the cover: textiles
- author first & last initials in TEXTILES
- set in India (50%+)

I'll see what we have, but really it's about who can finish what in the next 15ish hours.

And if you haven't posted your recently read books, now is the time! :)

The thief taker has a character who wears a plague doctor outfit as a key plot point. Given it is made of textiles, I'd argue it would work for the last task if no one objects.

message 1920: by Sophie, The other one (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 5684 comments Mod
Ah that would leave a C in the spell out though.

message 1921: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8288 comments I can pick up a C if needed. :)

message 1922: by Melindam (last edited Aug 14, 2024 11:33AM) (new)

Melindam | 8288 comments And I think Suzanne's The Inheritance Games can work for textile plot.

There's a charity ball or sth if I remember correctly where everyone dresses up to the nines - all kinds of textiles may be mentioned.

message 1923: by Catherine (last edited Aug 14, 2024 11:31AM) (new)

Catherine (royaltiescmb) | 660 comments Ok so we just need a cover of textile or a white cover as Suzannes book can cover either. Also @Marty your up with Devourers in India.

Once Kill you twice from Cecilia we can roll another HAZARD for a last turn as well. Hopefully a lot of P's or J's

I'm not sure if my book was used for anything yet, but I finished The Angel of Indian Lake yesterday and it has white text on the cover.

message 1933: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (royaltiescmb) | 660 comments I grabbed the C but it could also go to S. So if someone needs it we can switch

Sophie (drsophie) | 5684 comments Mod
Thanks, we've shuffled it into white text.

So far everything marked as read on the SS has a home in the minis and there is a plan for everything in the district depending on what gets finished.

- WOOL in title Below the Bones (Cat)
- #8 in series The Lost Bones (Cat)
- item related to district on the cover: textiles The Nonesuch (Mel)
- author first & last initials in TEXTILES Silver in the Wood (Teddie)
- set in India (50%+) The Devourers (Marty)

Now it's time for me to stop fiddling with this and see if I can get anything else finished in the next 12 or so hours.

message 1937: by Lucy (new)

Lucy | 271 comments I've finished Messiah but can't update SS or GR until I'm home from work. I'll try to finish some others while I'm here. I'll finish Sorcerer of the Wildeeps on my way home from work since it's on audio so that can work as S.

message 1938: by Suzanne (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 2326 comments I posted 2 books for the spell out: D and U
Both books are SUPER short, so if anyone has higher page count books for those letters, feel free to remove mine and add others. My R book also works for T as the ALN is Thorpe. So, if it works better for T and someone else has an R book, again feel free. I am reading the R book now.

message 1946: by Lucy (new)

Lucy | 271 comments Can't believe we managed to get another mini hazard done in a day! Really impressed, everyone must have read like the wind and the organisation of getting all the books in was brilliant.

I'm not going to be able to get Widdershins or Fawkes in the next hour. I've entered the three books I finished overnight and now I'm going to sleep :D

Amazing!

I've just asked for another hazard spin on the off chance that we can fit in anything else that gets finished in the next hour. Incredible final couple of days everyone!

I'm at work so this is a fly by post to say that we've been given TIDAL WAVES as our last hazard and I'll shuffle things later. We've got 24 hours after the end of the challenge to finalise everything.

Thank you everyone for some incredible teamwork!
