Melindam | 8291 comments I think Suzanne's Alas Babylon book could work for nuclear weapon imagery on cover or plot.

Alas, Babylon by Pat Frank

"When a nuclear holocaust ravages the United States, a thousand years of civilization are stripped away overnight, and tens of millions of people are killed instantly."

The cover shows a nuke cloud explosion, I think.

On the cover would work brilliantly and there's definitely stuff that can swap into location.

message 1813: by Catherine (last edited Aug 10, 2024 11:23AM) (new)

Catherine (royaltiescmb) | 660 comments Finished my last hazard book. I chose a book to cover the word BOMB in title. I will start that today. The Book of the Most Precious Substance by Sara Gran
I just read a review that says the moral of the book is never go out of your way to do sh*t for a man. HAHA

I'm about 32% through Starling House by Alix E. Harrow and have started Black Rain by Masuji Ibuse I'm hoping to finish the first tomorrow. If there's another book the group would prefer me to read besides those two, please let me know.

@Catherine, that's hysterical! I need that as my flair. :D

Marty looks like all District options are taken but were only one book away from choosing another Hazard word. So finish what you prefer the most unless @ Cecily wants to let you take over Black Rain for her Nuclear book.

Marty, I actually felt it was kind of a let down but The 23rd hero, which I read after this book gave me what I was thinking this book would give me. You should try it.
The 23rd Hero by Rebecca Anne Nguyen

I added them just in case but I will let Lucy and Sophie acknowledge and finish entering on the sheet. I know they both mentioned being in the middle/or done with those books

message 1824: by Marty (new)

Awesome - I'll mark you down for that one

message 1839: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments Yes I'll get a fishing cover book read by tomorrow afternoon. But question- I had said cover item related to fishing for those books because of the ocean on the cover. is that sufficient? if not, I have another book with a fishing plot and we could make Nonna Maria a fishing cover since there's a fishing boat on the cover

message 1840: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments if the ocean works then I'll finish the mirror

message 1841: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments NVM I'm pretty confident about related to fishing on cover for The Mirror. Not only the ocean is on the cover but the house has a Widows Walk where women watch for their husbands to return from the sea.

message 1842: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments ha and nvm again. I changed my books in the spreadsheet. I'll have the plot one done tomorrow

message 1843: by Suzanne (new)

message 1844: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8291 comments I finished yesterday A Civil Contract by Georgette Heyer that can cover author's initials in fishing if needed.

message 1845: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8291 comments But if Lauri finishes hers, A Civil Contract may be used for a possible new district-spin later.

Catherine (royaltiescmb) | 660 comments Omg @melindham. Booktube did me dirty. Wish I saw your review. I purchased Throne of glass series audio and books. I’m 50% in and honestly would totally DNF right now 😅😅

message 1848: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8291 comments I found Book 1 very overhyped, book 2 was better already, but this is a series I abandoned after book 4 (though 3 & 4 were really good) b/c there was too much wait & I didn't care to read book 5. By now I simply lost interest

message 1849: by Catherine (last edited Aug 11, 2024 11:28PM) (new)

Catherine (royaltiescmb) | 660 comments I do think Sarah J Maas did a super job at making ACOTAR change from a 3 stars to 4-5 with her endings but This is her first series. I should know better. But I went on a buying spree and bought ALL her books and then was getting totally into audio and then purchased all her books that way too. OOPS! Thats alright I'm gonna soft DNF and try again later, I am still on the hype of the last handful of books I read this weekend. All were really good.

Apparently I've read the first 4 of the series but I honestly can't remember them... I wasn't blown away but that is true of me and most romantasy (although I should have learnt from the fact that I don't generally like YA books now and grew out of reading them when I was about 13).
