Cecily Black | 1805 comments I took my neighbours up to camp (2 adults, 2 kids under 3 years old)located roughly 4 hours from us. WELL, on our way my partners transmission blew on his work truck blowing a bunch of fluids and dirt into my windshield. My van is fine, the truck is still on the side of the highway. Anyway, I had to drive the kids and one neighbour the rest of the two and a half hours to the camp and then return the two and a half hours to the side of the road to pick up my partner and my other neighbour, plus 3 dogs who had been patiently waiting to the howls of coyotes in the distance. I was able to listen to about 3/4 of a book since then.

Melindam | 8291 comments I can take white cover with Port Out, Starboard Home by Michael Quinion .

My edition My Family and Other Animals (TV Tie-In) (The Corfu Trilogy) by Gerald Durrell is not white enough unfortunately.

But if someone else finishes sth sooner, maybe you can use my book for the spell-it-out.

message 1763: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8291 comments Cat your book Under the Whispering Door by T.J. Klune is better placed under U as that's one of the hardest letters to come by. ☺️

Teddie (teddieg) | 2288 comments Catherine wrote: "Do we want to try and use some of our saved books in the District task and Arena Hazard to try and get through these two faster?"

Absolutely! I used a couple read books for the district tasks. I like to check with people for the others, as our goal is usually to finish within a day or 2, and sometimes people don't have the book or the time right when the spin comes up.

message 1768: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments Put me down for #3 in series. I'll read Nonna Maria and have it done by tonight or tomorrow
I went ahead and bought internet for the cruise because I'm reading competitive and I also didn't want to lose my duo Lingo 650 day streak. I still only have the app tho

We ALL loved it!!! My daughter's girlfriend doesn't even like going to movies but she went anyway and she also liked it a lot. :)

If anyone goes to see the movie, there is a party scene that Colleen is in but only in the background. She is at one time behind Lily and she's wearing a plain black dress. It goes really fast though. She's also at the very end opening the door to her bookstore in Texas so watch the credits too.

Teddie (teddieg) | 2288 comments You know, there were a few that had that mini indicator, so I think people didn't know it was taken.

We'll save it for Italy or #3 or something :)

message 1790: by Melindam (last edited Aug 09, 2024 09:15AM) (new)

Melindam | 8291 comments It seems there are some overclaiming of mini indicators. Cat already finished her #3 in series books, but it disappeared from the mini list and Vicki's planned book appeared there instead.

To avoid confusion, I removed that particular mini indicator code for Vicki 's book.

That's probably my fault. I had originally planned the #3 book but hadn't read it yet, so I saw Cat's name there and wasn't sure about my book. I had put it up for the last round, I think, but it got replaced. Anyway, when I "claim" a book and it gets moved it confuses me. I don't know if I should stop putting what all my books work for but it seems unfair to assume/make others look up how they'd work. I don't mean to step on anyone's toes! I am still waiting to read my #3 book until it can be used.

message 1793: by Teddie (new)

Teddie (teddieg) | 2288 comments Vicki wrote: "That makes me wonder about my book set in Pakistan. Should I bother reading it?"

Well, if that's the only reason you're reading it right now, I would say no. We've already done the setting in Pakistan district, and as we're trying to do a different district each time, we won't be getting back there before the end of the game.

Do you have a book with author initials in ELECTRONICS that you could read sooner - Funny Story or Her Last Hope? I don't think we've heard back from Lauri yet, so I can swap that task over to you?

lol :D

Are you close to finishing Black Hills? Right now that book is assigned to the Author initials in ELECTRONICS task. No biggie if not - we can move things around :)

Thanks, Teddie, I sometimes feel like I sound as though I'm complaining, but I truly am not. I simply get confused! I did look up a Pakistan book last night because I thought we needed it, so I will definitely not read it and read something else.

I am going to read Funny Story but the author's initials are E.H. so not in ELECTRONICS. I am currently reading River Sing Me Home by Eleanor Shearer so that one works, BUT I don't want to confuse anyone by putting/crossing over the code indicator, so IF we can use that one would you please put the code for it. I'll be finished with it in a couple hours at the most.

I also finished a book yesterday that works if it wasn't already used: The Paradise Problem by Christina Lauren

message 1797: by Marty (new)

Marty (martymill) | 167 comments Just an update about The Clockwork Dynasty by Daniel H. Wilson : I'm going to try and finish it tonight. However, if that doesn't work out, definitely will be done tomorrow. I hope that won't hold us up.

message 1798: by Teddie (new)

Teddie (teddieg) | 2288 comments @Vicki - There are a lot of moving parts with this mini - I'm glad you are checking in, asking questions - we sometimes need to move books to get to the next spin, but every book is important, so keep on keeping on - we're doing great as a team!

@Marty - all good! There are 2 tasks left for the district, and 5 for the hazard.

message 1799: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (royaltiescmb) | 660 comments Vicki wrote: "That makes me wonder about my book set in Pakistan. Should I bother reading it?"

If it's one you want to read, we can always use it elsewhere, later on once we know Pakistan is not an option.
