I have an O I'm going to start tonight / in morning, so I can take that one.

Who IS reading The Ornithologist Field Guide? :)

Teddie (teddieg) | 2288 comments Hazard spellout:

Just need an R and E claimed to fill this one up.

message 1704: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8291 comments Happy to claim an E book (also fine if someone finishes sth sooner) and finish tomorrow.

message 1705: by Cecily (new)

Cecily Black | 1805 comments I added books for E and R but feel free to replace them if someone finishes one that fits sooner!

Marty (martymill) | 167 comments Just an FYI - The Devourers is set in India, so it might be better saved for District 8 when it comes up.

Yes, it is but I saw that Teddie wanted that spot for O. I am actually almost done with my O book and Cecily is down for the R book which I also had planned. lol I guess I keep being too late. Maybe my books will fit in for the next spell out.

If you're almost done Vicki, I'll swap your Ornithologist back in. I'm sure we'll have another O later.

message 1715: by Melindam (last edited Aug 06, 2024 08:14AM) (new)

Melindam | 8291 comments Concerning the district tasks vs spell-it-out, here are my 2 cents. :)

We are at 4th place (which is great, btw) and seeing how much the teams in 1st/2nd/3rd place have been ahead of us point-wise, I don't think our choosing spell-outs over district tasks will make too much of a difference.

That said, I will be happy to go with what the majority of the team decides, though personally I think reading for the district tasks is more fun. 🙂

Cecily Black | 1805 comments The spell-it-out is now finished :)

message 1720: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments I pretty much have my books set up to read and won't be able to change some things once I leave in the morning. But I'll ask for help on anything I can't change.

message 1721: by Melindam (last edited Aug 06, 2024 08:19AM) (new)

Melindam | 8291 comments Have a great voyage, Suzanne.

I have added my finished U-book to our new word and I have also finished my Capitol book.

Tomorrow we'll be flying home and while I have started my next book, I won't be able to finish it before 8 Aug.

message 1722: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (royaltiescmb) | 660 comments Ya I am coming up on starting brand new books so I feel the slow down but It would be cool to finish 3-4 more tasks including the current ones. 8/15 is coming upon on soooo fast.

message 1723: by Vicki (last edited Aug 06, 2024 11:14AM) (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 2326 comments I'm starting 2 books that will work for letters C and I, but if anyone finishes those letter books, please feel free to remove my book and add yours. I'm reading them either way.

Starting with the I book.

message 1724: by Teddie (last edited Aug 06, 2024 11:13AM) (new)

Teddie (teddieg) | 2288 comments I know - sooo fast!

I started listening to Carl's Doomsday Scenario today - hilarious - and guess what y'all? I'm going to actually finish Lonesome Dove in the next few days - yay!

message 1725: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8291 comments Yaay for Lonesome Dove! Well done, Teddy! :)

message 1726: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8291 comments The book I have started (A Civil Contract by Georgette Heyer) can be used for spell-out or it works nicely for agriculture plot, should we get D11 some time.

Our 3rd District is completed. Should be getting a new one soon.

We're 4 letters off finishing the spell out with CIOR waiting to be finished.

We're off to district 6 next.

I'm on my phone so SS shuffling isn't my favourite right now, but will see what I can manage.

CARS in title - done the couple on Cedar Close (Cecily)
blue colour cover (50%+) -
#6 in series - Done with Gulf Coast Promises (Suzanne)
blue text on cover
item related to district on the cover: transportation - Archangel's Lineage (Cat) or Ascent (Marty)
author first & last initials in TRANSPORTATION
set in Germany (50%+) - Germania (Marty) or The Sunflower House (Suzanne)
plot element that can be linked to the district: transportation - no choices

message 1733: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8291 comments I'm reading Marked in Flesh where the others control all transportation and across the continent and the Atlantic Ocean and it plays an important role.

I will be finished with the book by tomorrow.

message 1734: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8291 comments I can add the proper book link tomorrow. But if there are other books to use, just kick out mine. :)

message 1735: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments I'm travelling a lot today and can probably finish the sunflower house. But if Marty finishes her book first that's fine

message 1736: by Vicki (last edited Aug 07, 2024 09:29AM) (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 2326 comments I was wondering where my book The Ornithologist's Field Guide to Love was moved to or is it being saved for something? It was in an O spot yesterday, but Teddie's book is there now. I don't mind it being replaced but I like to know where it went. lol

I just posted the book for the letter C in ViciousHornets. Not sure if we're in a hurry to finish that spell out but The Ornithologist's Field Guide to Love's author is India Holton so it could be used for letter I if it hasn't been used elsewhere and I don't see it having been used.

Can someone please tell me again how to uncover the cells that show the books that are hidden?

Sophie (drsophie) | 5684 comments Mod
ornithologist was used as an O in the Electric Forcefield spell out.

If you look at the top of column B there is a triangle/funnel icon that you can press on and select True and False to see everything. If it is on True then that's everything that's moved across to the official sheet and false is everything that hasn't been moved.

message 1738: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 2326 comments Thanks, Sophie, I never even saw that word. lol I appreciate your patience with me. I'm going to copy down those instruction and save this time. :) I appreciate you!

Catherine (royaltiescmb) | 660 comments Ok so Germania or The Sunflower house (currently being read by Suzanne) can be Germany based book
The Sunflower House by Adriana Allegri

Do we think Archangel's Lineage for item related to district on the cover: transportation? Wings?
and ASCENT for the blue Lettering?

Archangel's Lineage (Guild Hunter, #16) by Nalini Singh The Ascent by Ronald Malfi

Catherine (royaltiescmb) | 660 comments Wanna hear a funny. I am nosy and like to check out the other districts sheets and books read. And the dates!! OMG the dates. The first time I was like oh wow, I am sure it's just wrong but I got it on the last one I saw. Yup not everyone does Month/Day/Year . I totally knew that but ha, reality check!

Oh, and I thought Cecily was kicking butt at 5400 points (I still think that- Good Job Cecily.) But Gwen in District 11 is in 10000's. Crazy, I hope she is making some money reading that many books :)
