Suzanne | 5417 comments I could be wrong - right now we have two entered in Wall 2 and Wall 3 at #1 and #3. So those would go from 1 to 9. If we want to change one of the walls to do those higher series numbers, we'd have #17 to #24, which would use the two mentioned above, and I guess the ones listed on the "WO's from #17 on (possibly not the 17.5?) That seems doable? Or it looks like we have quite a few people who have put down books going from 13 to 20.

Seems like the "problem" we have is a lot of options - so many willing book readers. Pretty lucky!

message 1052: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8295 comments I also understood that we want to build a wall of higher numbers than 1-8 and Lauri and Vicki already offered to read books for that?

@Marty, one of your books #3 can go in the first wall. I'll put mine for MPG Historical Fiction instead and change the code for yours, too.

If someone could give us credit for BOM…

Thank you kindly!

The 'problem' we've got is definitely a good one to have.

At the moment we've got a wall from 1-8 and another run of 12-19.

As I see it was have a couple of options:

1. Find books to make a run of 1-24: this is probably the highest effort option but I have confidence we can do it if you all want.
2. Make a chain of either 12-18 or 13-19 and another of either 0-7 or 1-8 as lower series numbers come up more often.

That's good, b/c there is still one unclaimed Horror task, the code is S39. :)

I added the code to your book and also listed the alternative MPGs (Thriller, Mystery, Paranormal).

If you list here or on the sheet your books, we can check them together and come up with solutions. :)

For MPG we've got:
2 nature
2 literary fiction
1 science fiction
1 contemporary
1 paranormal

Left unclaimed so if your books work for any of those, we can slot them in.

Sounds like Maritza has the contemporary slot filled too.

Is it advantageous to make a run of from 1-24? If so, I think we should do that, as we certainly have the flexible reading power.

If not, well I support whatever we decide, of course. As a bookaholic, I have books of every conceivable series number and am happy to read any of them. And I'm also ok with letting others read for walls, tasks. I'll still be reading stuff either way.

Or....are walls stronger with higher number series? Hmm....that's probably a horrible thing to suggest.

message 1065: by Suzanne (new)

So long as we have 3 walls with 8 books and a window book each then what numbers we use doesn't matter at all.

Oh and if anyone wants to read a 5, 13, 16 or 17 to replace mine please say! Getting them all done is likely to be a bit tight for me.

I'm happy to back you up on any of those. If you'd like, we can just wait and see what you need as time goes on. Otherwise, just feel free to choose one :)

Suzanne | 5417 comments I put Mammoths at the Gates down for #4 in series on wall 2. I'm reading it either way - I'm trying to get the Hugo 2024 nominees finished before July 20th so I can vote responsibly :)

Sounds good! I'm going to add a few more suggestions to the form, I have a lot of 20+ books in the Sharon McCone series that can be used.

ETA, I saw that we need a #4 for Wall 2. I'll add one.

Wonderful!

Please remember to use the mini code from column B to fill in the mini sheet. If you type directly into the box the tracking through from the main Round sheet breaks.

message 1072: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments Oh Marty - I'll take my #4 out then. It can be a backup

message 1074: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments @Marty - I moved my #4 in series to the WO section - feel free to move yours up to S55 (the wall #4 place).

message 1075: by Melindam (last edited Jul 02, 2024 05:45AM) (new)

Melindam | 8295 comments Sophie, how about a bargain? You could move your Catching Fire to my door task (delete my Keeper book), my #4 book (A court of silver flames) could be moved to MPG YA and Susan's book could still be used for a 4-in-series task.

My Keeper book will keep for later. :)

message 1076: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments My Liberty's daughter book can be moved up to MPG Science Fiction too. Although really, I'm not too worried - I'll read them no matter what - and if they can help for the shelter - that's great! If not, that's also great!

Melinda, you are like the best juggler of large book tasks that I've ever seen!

message 1077: by Ushashi (new)

Ushashi (ushashib) | 567 comments Oh dear! There's a lot of messages that I missed. But from what I'm gathering we need a #4 book and 2 literary fictions. With my schedule the way it looks I can certainly read 1 more book before Jul 15 besides the 2 I claimed.

So I can re-read HP #4 which I haven't read Goblet of fire in 2 years now. That would give a good page count. Or I can read one more literary fiction because I always have an endless supply of those with me. But it will possibly be a lower page count as I tend to read them a bit slower because of the genre.

Let me know what works best for the team and I will go with it.

message 1078: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8295 comments Ushashi,

no #4 book is needed any more. :)

Among MPGs we need
1 Natur
1 Science Fiction
1 Paranormal
2 Literary Fiction

message 1079: by Ushashi (new)

Ushashi (ushashib) | 567 comments Great! I will get another literary fiction then. Thanks Mel!

You aren't driving me mad at all Mel! I'm happy for my Catching Fire to be taken out completely, then you can shuffle yours. We've then got an unclaimed Door task and Ushashi can read for #4 if she wants to, or someone else can fill it in.

If we don't get a taker for the door, mine can always go back in later.

I was just getting into the book and would like to finish.

message 1088: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8295 comments Marty, you only need to add your books to the Round 2 tab.
There you can to enter the Mini task ref number in Column N and the Reason in Column O and it will autofill the data on the Mini tab. :)

message 1089: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments When I finish books that I don't have on the list of shelter books but that fit one or more tasks, is it ok to put notes in the "alternatives" column on the tracking sheet? Then just in case we need them, they can act as backup.
