Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 2326 comments I will be reading Verse and Vengeance but I can't start until 9;00 AM UTC time, which is 2:00 AM my time (PDT or PST). Will that matter since I'm 7 hours behind UTC time? I probably wouldn't start my book until around 7:00 AM or so.

message 852: by Teddie (new)

Teddie (teddieg) | 2288 comments That is fine Vicki - everyone reading a battle book can read at the same time. The only requirement is that the book is started after start time on June 22 and finished before the end on the 28th.

No one needs to wait for any other battle book reader. :)

Catherine (royaltiescmb) | 662 comments Since Lauri, Ushashi, Marty, Maritza and Lucy hasn't responded and time is winding down should we just choose the next book and anyone can pick it up? Here are some ideas of books on KU
Kiss Me Not (Kiss Me, #1) by Emma Hart A Kiss of Iron (Shadows of the Tenebris Court, #1) by Clare Sager Kiss and Don't Tell (The Vancouver Agitators, #1) by Meghan Quinn The Kiss Of Deception The Remnant Chronicles, tome 1 (French Edition) by Mary Pearson Kiss the Fae (Vicious Faeries, #1) by Natalia Jaster Kiss of Fire (Imdalind, #1) by Rebecca Ethington

Is She Really Gone (Patterson Blake FBI Mystery, #2) by A.M. Strong Is She The Reason by Nako

Melindam | 8295 comments Stephanie, I'm good to listen to the audio with Suzanne as back-up. :)

Although these page counts are confusing... 🤔

message 858: by Melindam (last edited Jun 19, 2024 09:16PM) (new)

Melindam | 8295 comments I found this edition which is 3 hours 3 minutes as shown in my audible app.

Is Shakespeare Dead? From my Autobiography by Mark Twain

message 859: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (royaltiescmb) | 662 comments It’s amazing how many sources have different info but yay let’s do that so we can continue with the next book choices 👍

message 860: by Lauri (new)

Lauri (otwlauri) | 1723 comments I DO want to read, but I only check in at night and I’m so far behind everybody in time zones… I’ll try to check in tomorrow morning. Hopefully I can pick up a book!

I’m reading both Starling House and The Wishing Game for BOM and really enjoying them!

Starling House by Alix E. Harrow The Wishing Game by Meg Shaffer

message 861: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8295 comments Glad you do, Lauri! :))

message 862: by Lucy (new)

Lucy | 271 comments I seem to have the bad timing of checking this thread only when we're waiting for District 9 to send us a book back.

If you need another back-up, I can do A Kiss of Salt & Sea or The Kiss That Killed Me.

message 863: by Teddie (new)

Teddie (teddieg) | 2288 comments For those of you who can only check the thread occasionally and book battle timing is off:
if any of you want to read Iona Iverson's Rules for Commuting, I'll pick up another book later in the battle.

Just let me know!

Not available for me (11 week hold).

Sorry I wasn't checking this thread often enough. This book also has too long of a wait time in my library. Same with the Shakespeare book. I'll try to check this one more often for the next book district 9 sends back.

message 867: by Teddie (new)

Teddie (teddieg) | 2288 comments @Maritza and @Ushashi and anyone else who hasn't been able to claim a battle book yet: there will be a couple more opportunities this round, and 10 more next round, so we'll make sure everyone gets a book at some point. You can also see the books we have sent D9 so far on the Battles tab: maybe someone else can swap a current book for an upcoming book?

D9 is reviewing a couple options now, and I expect we'll be hearing from them in the next few hours if you can pop back in then.

Everyone throws out options and weighs in on what they can read - and we want to make sure the title we send isn't too hard to overlap :)

Suzanne | 5417 comments I love that it's not just THIS challenge - there is the whole building up our supplies thing. Which is so important, and I think the mods raiding may only get tougher :)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 2326 comments FYI team, since I hot back from vacation in Utah (Sunday night) I have barely read. I will be picking up the pace today and getting back to my normal speed of books per day. I have my book ready for the battle and in my hands, so to speak! I am so ready!

message 872: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8295 comments That's the spirit, Vicki! :) ♡

message 873: by Melindam (new)

Our next book will be Eadan's Vow

message 876: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (royaltiescmb) | 662 comments Anyone reading Dance of thieves? the 2nd book is called Vow of thieves Vow of Thieves (Dance of Thieves, #2) by Mary E. Pearson

message 877: by Catherine (last edited Jun 20, 2024 06:07PM) (new)

Catherine (royaltiescmb) | 662 comments The Vow (Black Arrowhead, #1; Mageriverse #15) by Dannika Dark I could volunteer with -The Vow but then we would be stuck with Vow books for the last reads :)

The Vow

message 878: by Suzanne (last edited Jun 20, 2024 06:27PM) (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments I saw that same one - and the same "problem" - it COULD be ok. I have Vow of Justice available at my library too and could read it. But of course, I cede to those who haven't had a turn.

Oh, I also own Vows and am certainly willing to read either of the two...or not :)

message 879: by Teddie (last edited Jun 20, 2024 06:24PM) (new)

Teddie (teddieg) | 2288 comments Thanks Cat - good to have that as backup!
ETA: and Suzanne :)

It does look like there are a few choices of books starting with vow - I suggest we give it @ 8-10 hours to see if anyone who hasn't yet claimed a book for this round's battle, finds something she wants to read.

message 880: by Maritza (new)

Maritza (spanishwhispers) | 2241 comments I can read Vow of Worth

Book 9 into the battle. Well done everyone. Let's see if we can get a response and then the final 2 books in before the deadline in 21 hours...

message 884: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (royaltiescmb) | 662 comments From reading district 9 comments they may just read a book called worth 🤣🤣

message 885: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 3779 comments Greetings District 7!

We’ve been having a lot of fun with our Book Battle! We’re also trying to make sure everyone gets a turn to read if they want so we get it! It’s all fun and games for sure!

We’re sending back Worth 😂

message 886: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie | 286 comments The reason why I choose to do the last book was because I read werid books. So with that being said I am read for the last book in the chain Rth Rising.

message 887: by Cecily (new)

Our final book will be The Ingenue

Best of luck to you guys!

message 890: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie | 286 comments Now that we have a small break both teams have all ten books planned. How does everyone feel about how the planning week went?
We as two teams got this done with 10ish hours to spare and technically we did start a tad earlier than originally planned. We do have to do this again and I think we generally had a good turnaround and got most members reading.
If you have any thoughts on how to improve this process please share.

message 891: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments I loved how it worked and how everyone chimed in and was willing to help! And I'm amazed a book even exists that begins with RTH! What in the world!?

message 892: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (royaltiescmb) | 662 comments The turn around for our teams was so good. That was fun!

Sophie (drsophie) | 5684 comments Mod
Good find Stephanie! And v speedy turn around for the last few books.

I wonder if letting the people who wanted to take part but couldn't due to time zones etc have the choice of the first few books next round (Marty, Lauri, and anyone else I've forgotten (sorry)). If it takes a bit longer that's fine, because then those of us who are chronically online can speed through the later choices.

message 894: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8295 comments Great find, it wouldn't even have occured to me to check for a book starting with RTH. :D

message 895: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8295 comments I'm also fine with grabbing a book(s) later in the chain for the next battle round. :)

message 896: by Teddie (new)

Teddie (teddieg) | 2288 comments How on RTH did you find that book Stephanie? lol

I think we all did a great job in this planning week! I would also say for next round's battle: if you happened to miss the back and forth on the thread for a particular book, but can read it during battle week, volunteer as backup for that book. Perhaps the original claimant swaps with you, or you'll be needed as backup - as we all know, life happens! :)

message 897: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie | 286 comments You gotta love Science Fiction’s weird titles.

The Battle begins! Give it your best shot everyone.

message 898: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 2326 comments The battle just began in my time zone 20 minutes ago, but I just got home from watching my grandchildren today so I am starting my book now.

message 899: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8295 comments I have started on The Night Watch & will be some time about it as it's 500+ pages, but it will be finished before tge deadline as well as the Shakespeare one. :)

message 900: by Lucy (new)

Lucy | 271 comments I think queuing up a back-up as well sounds like a good idea, hopefully this week will go off without a hitch but life has a tendency to life, especially when you have a week to start and finish a book. (And I am also impressed that there is a book starting with Rth!)
