Melindam | 8291 comments I have reached the last chapters of all 3 books I am currently reading. Will leave them to finish after the mini countdown is over. :)

Good restraint! I've got the epilogue of one sitting waiting for the next 15 hours.

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 2326 comments OMG, Cecily, me too!!! I LOVE a true psychological thriller too!

Question: if we are reading a BOM, do we also put it down on the main tab and/or mini-tab or just the BOM?

Just log the book on the main tab w/ resources (you fill in mini info on main tab too) and on the BOM tab where you can add links to your responses.

Just lo..."

So for the BOM I do not add it to the mini-tab, or did I misunderstand?

message 507: by Marty (new)

Marty (martymill) | 167 comments Finished my last book for the month. The Flame Throwers by Rachel Kushner was a disappointment. I am going to be packing for a move this week, so I don't know how many books I can manage. Nevertheless I'll try to keep up.

message 508: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8291 comments Vicki

if you added your bom book to the main tab already, after all the weapon/defense... categories, there is a column where you can add the number of the mini task (C××) if it fits one and that will automatically add your book to the mini tab.

Apart from that, you also need to add your bom book to the BOM tab.

Yes, no need to add your books separately to MINI tab. This post goes into a bit more detail.

Good luck with the move! You've been reading up a storm so far.

Thanks for clarifying that for me. :)

message 513: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8291 comments Unfortunately I recently reread it, but if you like cosy-fantasy, this is a nice one to read and has horns on the cover Legends & Lattes (Legends & Lattes, #1) by Travis Baldree

message 514: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments I just noticed the book I have to read for RL book club A Woman of No Importance: The Untold Story of the American Spy Who Helped Win World War II also works for cornucopia. I was hoping to move my Throne of Grace book into Idaho, but those trappers keep wandering the whole western area, without settling in the state long enough :) But the other book can act as a backup anyway.

I hope you are all doing well!

message 515: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8291 comments Suzanne, feel free to add your book to the Cornucopia task instead of mine (The Guernsey ....).

I am not that keen to read that right now and can take up another book for another task instead. :)

message 516: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments Ok - thanks! My goal is to finish my western non-fiction today and work on that one.

Melindam | 8291 comments I'm good. :) Will claim another task instead "cornucopia" :)

I removed my book from C57

Well done guys for switching round the mini tasks depending on what other people have! Makes our lives as captains super easy.

You've all been doing incredibly and we are currently 2nd! The team in 1st has a 30 bpm reader who has read 80 books so far, so I feel like catching them is an uphill battle!

Happy June! I hope everyone has a wonderful month!

Big munchkin goes back to school tomorrow after a week off so things here will return to normal(ish). Means I will hopefully work out the next stage of the book clock I've had planned for several years.

OOh I haven't read this one yet. My TBR is quite full but perhaps I can sneak it in. I will check my Library today. Ooh but double checking it looks like we need some Idaho, diacritic, abundance, farm, and orange cover. I will finish the books I have signed up for before looking to another one.

Love it- Does it take up the whole wall. Are the books life size or are you making mini ones?

message 529: by Sophie, The other one (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 5684 comments Mod
I've found actual books so it will end up taking up most of the wall in our spare room/my office.

My husband gave me the clock hands about 5 years ago and I've got all but 8 for the numbers now. It's taken longer to get on the wall than I was expecting but nearly there hopefully.

Cecily Black | 1805 comments Oooh time for me to kick it upppp hahaa my partner has been home since the 28th so I slowed down a bit as we were working on our place and watching the Edmonton Oilers make it to the Stanley Cup final! I read 55 in May total (mostly audiobooks but about 10-12 were KU). I've been aiming for higher page count but maybe quick audiobooks are the way to go.
I'm feeling competitive, mostly because this is the thrill in my life rn hahaa

Catherine (royaltiescmb) | 660 comments BOM-The Wishing Game. I read it last month and that's too soon for a re-read. Can I still participate in the BOM or do I need to bow out since I am unable to read this month?

@Stephanie, I hope that you are fully recovered by now. 🤞

Melindam | 8291 comments As Cat has finished her Starling House sooner, I have deleted my claim for the Mini task C17 (Word in title is hiding a different smaller word inside) and put hers there instead. I will be a few days to finish mine.

I have claimed a "takes place on a farm" book instead of Cornucopia. 😊

message 537: by Sophie, The other one (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 5684 comments Mod
Cecily - you are already rocking it! All the pages count so 1 x 600p and 3x 200p all get us the same points. Read what makes you happy!

Cat - if it was before the challenge, you can answer the questions but unfortunately it won't get us any points.

MelM - Once I eventually figure out how to get the books up, I'll upload a pic for everyone.

message 538: by Teddie (last edited Jun 04, 2024 08:10AM) (new)

Teddie (teddieg) | 2288 comments Can't wait to see pics of the finished clock! Very fun idea :) I think I'd do it with mini shelves and put favorite books in order of my favorites, 1 - 12. Then I could switch/swap them around if needed.

It looks like I'm going to get the audiobook for Lonesome Dove from the library next round. I have the paperback but I think it will be fun to go back and forth between the two because it's so long, so I'm taking it off planning for this round. It is currently in a horns task for the mini, so if anyone wants to grab that, great! (I'll also be on the lookout for another horns book.)

message 539: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (royaltiescmb) | 660 comments @melindham Ooh nice since I don't have any ideas on farm books. @ Sophie thank you I will definitely comment because that is fun and dang why did I vote for that as BOM. :)

Does anyone else read several books at once. Most my friends think it's weird but I feel like it's watching several TV series during the week.

I definitely do - I usually have a text book and an audiobook going at the same time, often with a nonfiction book I take my time with on the side.

Another farm book idea (I think, as its on a farm / orchard) is Tom Lake by Ann Patchett
- Meryl Streep does the audiobook and I heard it's wonderful.

I've got an audiobook and an ebook on the go most of the time. Sometimes there'll be another ebook or a physical book in the mix as well.

Oh and whatever the boy child is reading at bedtime.

Quick update on where we are on tasks for the mini (TLDR: Awesome claiming of tasks everyone!)

This is what is left to claim:
5 points
All letters of CORNUPIA in title : 1

3 points
Horn on cover: 1
Set in Crete: 1
Set in Idaho: 1
Takes place on a farm: 2

Hope everyone is enjoying what they have claimed so far!

Been doing a quick check through shelves etc.

Suzanne: could you please look at which resources Throne of Grace and A Woman of No Importance could be used for?

Teddie: Can The Templar Legacy be added to your shelf please?

Vicki: Anything that hasn't been marked as checked on the SS isn't on your challenge shelf. Could you add them please?

Yes, I know I'm being a pain about this!

message 549: by Melindam (last edited Jun 05, 2024 06:36AM) (new)

Melindam | 8291 comments I see that Cecily read The Only One Left on 2 June and it's not assigned to any mini.

It has "abundance" in text according to Amazon sample :)

page 175 "lack of sleep and an abundance of frustration."

------------

Lauri's The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store has "harvest" (we can use hers instead of mine for this task)

page 15 gathering of the harvest and the miraculous protection the Lord

------------------

And it seems Cat's Secrets Ever Green: The Everlight Series also has "abundance"

Page 231

worn face sat in a leather chair. An abundance of black hair, now peppered with white
