Everything looks great on the spreadsheet. Putting an edition on the shelf is to help us captains double check page counts and the like. So if you don't want to have the audiobook version on your shelf, could you please put the default edition and it is easiest for us if that's the version you link on the spreadsheet as well.

That would work. It's a green and blue cover.

Shelby (stang_lee) | 1981 comments Elisabeth/Kylie - so I never got a great answer on whether two teammates could read the same book and have it count towards the door. Please both read the book if you're interested. It works in other areas I believe. But I'm going to slide one of the other BOM's that just got finished into the last Door spot just to be on the safe side. :)

Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 820 comments It works for Mystery so I’ll definitely read it and add it there unless it works better for door. Don’t know yet.🙂

I have a book 9 and a book 10 I plan to read. Please let me know if you'd like to swap out.

And, do I keep filling books into the mini as long as spots are open?

message 561: by Shelby (last edited Jul 01, 2024 07:26PM) (new)

Shelby (stang_lee) | 1981 comments You absolutely can Susan. Basically any book we read will count towards our overall points as long as it's put under a resource. We get the extra points for completing each task in the mini. As we go the captains may move things around if we notice something or as we get close to the end if it looks like something someone has claimed doesn't look like it'll be finished in the two week time limit. But for the most part people can claim whichever of the tasks suits them and if a task gets duplicated, it's not really a big deal as we can still use the book in our main resource piles if there's not another spot to fit it in in the mini.

If you've got a 9/10 series book you want to read go for it. We can always adjust the numbers on our 3rd chain as well. We don't have to start with one, we could just as easily start at 3 and build to 10.

Vicky (librovert) | 3138 comments Hi Susan! Welcome. :)

This week has been a week so far, but I did manage to squeeze in the end of Starling House just in time! Now to shower and sleep, only one more work day before a long weekend. Anyone with a long weekend in the states doing anything exciting?

message 565: by Shelby (new)

Shelby (stang_lee) | 1981 comments Unfortunately just like any other weekend for me. I'm working my shifts at the bar Thur-Sat. But I'll have some down time finally on Sunday.

Ashleigh (ashleighbailey) | 103 comments Question: just to clarify for myself in regards to the mini game.

Are the genre's and the walls to be treated separately?
If I read a book in series for the wall, can it be used also for the genre area?

message 567: by Elisabeth (new)

Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 820 comments Only one use, I think. The only doubling allowed is our regular main sheet and a mini.

message 568: by Lucy (new)

Lucy Luu (lovelucyluu) | 238 comments Also working at the bar friday & saturday. I'm usually off thursdays so no extra days off this week. Lucky me.

message 569: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (librovert) | 3138 comments @Ashleigh - Elisabeth is correct. One book = one task for the mini.

message 570: by Kaley (new)

Kaley (kaleyamo) | 1978 comments Unfortunately at my job I only have Thursday off and have to work Friday. My boss’s boss encouraged me to take Friday off, but I’m saving up my vacation days for the fall so . . . I’ll still be working. (Hoping it’s an easy day though because I think like half of our small staff is taking the day off)

No worries. I haven't had a chance to put anything on the ss this week.

Shelby (stang_lee) | 1981 comments Ugh - Trying to decide if it's worth rereading The Secret Lives of Country Gentlemen for the points since the sequel got picked for the Backroom BOM. I've read both before and enjoyed them, but both we're pretty recent though I believe still outside the 6month reread boundary.

Susan A | 461 comments Shelby wrote: "Ugh - Trying to decide if it's worth rereading The Secret Lives of Country Gentlemen for the points since the sequel got picked for the Backroom BOM. I've read both before and enjoy..."

Based on the fact that you started the statement with "ugh", my advice is no. Read something that want to read. :)

I was thinking of rereading The Secret Lives of Country Gentlemen but then I noticed that I left a review. I've written 113 reviews out of 9315 books marked read on GR. My review is more like a note to myself "Read the ebook. The narration was not good." I'm not in the mood for an ebook and if I took the time to remind myself that I thought the narration was bad, it must be terrible.

message 581: by Vicky (new)

Vicky (librovert) | 3138 comments Quick Update!

Hey Team - I just went through the mini and shuffled a few things around to fit in some books that were read but not fit in because a category was already full. Nobody got kicked out; just moved!

We're 66% done with the mini which is incredible for 5 days of reading and we only have two books as yet unclaimed:

-#5 in a Series (for the second wall)
-#1.5-7.5 in a Series (for the second wall)

As a fair warning: I will probably take a pass on Wednesday and start swapping out unread claims for books that people have already read. It takes some of the pressure of Shelby and I if we can get things "finished" early and it also let's us all see what we might really need to fill in before the end of the mini! :)

message 582: by Susan A (new)

Susan A | 461 comments VIcky --

I'm not sure if I can move things you've already checked.

I think Escape Clause can go in the second wall as #9 (currently in thriller) and I will finish a book tonight (Golden Prey) which can go in the resulting open thriller space.

If you want me to move these books, please let me know.

message 583: by Shelby (new)

Shelby (stang_lee) | 1981 comments I've got a few books I can fit into our missing series books if needed. I'm going to hold off on claiming those spots though in case someone else can get to them first. I've still got a couple books already claimed to get through before then. I've started 2 or my 4 claimed though so it's possible I can tackle them by the end of the weekend.

We only need a #5 and a novella (#x.5) from 1-8 in the second wall, but definitely make a note in the tracking tab that it's a number #9 in a series in case we need to shuffle the third later!

okay -- I misunderstood. I thought the series wall was just 9 consecutive numbered series books, but it seems the in between book is a requirement.

message 587: by Lucy (new)

Lucy Luu (lovelucyluu) | 238 comments I have books that fit in both requirements. I have to go to work now, but I will fill it in if no one wants to claim them!

message 589: by Shelby (new)

Shelby (stang_lee) | 1981 comments Alright - I'm 2 of my 4 complete and about to go out for my daily walk where I should get through a big chunk of my audiobook. I'm already about 50% of the way through so hopefully can finish that off today or tomorrow.

I will probably do an update of things this afternoon since it's my day off and may move things over to the main spreadsheet. Will give you all an update later as I get through things. I know Vicky's going to do another pass on Wednesday but I don't want to leave her with everything to move over then. ;)

message 590: by Shelby (last edited Jul 07, 2024 12:27PM) (new)

Shelby (stang_lee) | 1981 comments Ok so I was adding my most recent book to the spreadsheet and it didn't update before I started, but instead resynced as I was in the middle of adding the book which meant I accidentally erased the title and who read one of the books on the spreadsheet. I tried to look at shelves and see if I could figure it out, but nothing matches exactly. Jax your book A Great Reckoning came the closest, but the page count didn't match what you have on your shelf so I wasn't a 100% sure. But then I see you have a line for that higher up so probably not it either. Argh.

Can people double check and whoever's book I erased so stupidly please just add it back? So sorry!

message 593: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Elig | 68 comments I have been struggling to read over here. My brain just hasn't been into it the past couple of days so I've been playing video games instead.

Can someone please remind me what I need to do if I'm reading the BOM? I'm currently reading The Wishing Game. I think I probably need to answer some questions or something. I know this is information I could probably find myself but my brain is all tapped out. I'm going to blame my 2 small children for that this time around.

Also, not specifically book games related, but I'm hoping one of you might be able to help. I am currently doing a re-read of Malibu Rising. I'm listening to the audiobook now, but when I read it a few years ago, I read the ebook. Is there some way to mark this so that the original one stays as the ebook and this one will be marked as the audio?

Thanks all! I hope you are having a great day!

message 594: by Kaley (new)

Kaley (kaleyamo) | 1978 comments Ashley — i think if you make sure you are on the audio page when you change it to currently reading it’ll do what you’re wanting. I’ve accidentally had multiple editions on my shelves before and I think that’s how it happened. 😂 (I usually combine it all to whatever my most recent edition is so I’m not 100% sure but I think that’ll work)

Ashley - You'll find a link to the BOM page for The Wishing Game HERE. :) You'll need to answer three sets of questions for the points. It doesn't have to be the first three sets of questions either, it can be any three of the groups of comments. They'd then just need to be linked on the spreadsheet on the BOM page.

Shelby (stang_lee) | 1981 comments Spreadsheet Questions/Updates

Rosina - Can you please make sure that Her Wolf is on your shelf?'

Jax - Can you adjust your read date for The Wishing Game to July rather than Jan please?

Lucy - Can you please make sure No One Can Know is on your shelf?

Heli - Can you please makes sure One Last Secret is on your shelf?

Elisabeth - Just an FYI, I know you have a few claimed books left that you're working through, I bumped your Blakehurst-Braybrook #3 book as we had another #3 finished but not in a spot.

I also shifted a few other books around where we had books doubled up in claimed categories on the spreadsheet, but everything that can be marked off so far is. :)

message 597: by Elisabeth (new)

Elisabeth Rose (elisabethrose) | 820 comments No worries, Shelby. I’ve almost finished the #7 in series and my sci fi Dr Jekyll etc is just over 100 pages. Pressure is off but if we need it I’ll have time for the #5.

I'm also planning on reading the BOM The Book That Wouldn’t Burn. Any heads up about it?
