I'm trying to find the title and author of a sci-fi book I read many, many years ago. It is from a series of three books I think and I remember only one specific line from the first book. The phrase is 'over eye hair tufts.' It is from one of the aliens who is trapped in a human research facility. These aliens and humans have been at war for ages, and the war started by mistake because humans tried to communicate by radio to an unknown vessel, which happen to be ceramic. Any ideas?
