Hi, please add https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1... to the series https://www.goodreads.com/series/3754... as #3. I assume the two authors will merge as well?. Thanks

Done. Merge not possible due to "Alex J. Markson" is goodreads author.
Thank you for sorting the series out. But it now means I have two author profiles as Alex J Markson. How can that be resolved?

The profile had no followers or any other content so there's no need to merge. Moving the book causes the other profile to disappear as it already has.
When merging author name with goodread author it is not possible for librarian that i tried but failed. Otherwise I could have been merge.

Simply go to the book and edit the author name on the book. That's all; it's not merging a profile, it's just moving the book to another profile. You should do that when there are no followers or lots of books.
I noticed a goodreads employee already merge this. Please check.
Yes, I mentioned in my first reply that 'You can just move the book by fixing the author name, which is what support did.' I checked the logs before responding. I simply wanted to inform you that you could have done it yourself, as it seemed you weren't aware it was possible. I noticed you're relatively new as a librarian, so I was trying to offer some help. It's okay if you don't believe me, but I assure you, I'm telling the truth.
