SCI FI novel about 2 students who create an AI which they need to keep in a militery bunker so it doesnt escape and detroy the world

Im looking for a book I read last year (i think). set accross 2 timelines, present day and past. in the past 2 students create an AI which gets taken over by the US militery and kept in a bunker. one of the students leaves. the other falls in love with the cleaners daughter. in the present day we follow a group including the other student, an alchoholic cop, European "mafia" and a girl who has been trafficed in to prostitution.
