Another Time and Place by Samantha Grosser – 3 Stars (Rounded up)

Set during WW2 in England, this book tells the story of Anna, a secretary, and Tom, an American pilot, who meet and fall in love when he is on a 72-hour pass. They wish to marry, but before they have time, Tom goes on another mission and does not return. Knowing Tom hasn’t returned but not knowing what has happened to him, Anna returns to live with her mother, and shortly after, discovers she is pregnant. The remained of the book tells of Tom and Anna’s struggles to deal with their individual situations. The book was ok, but not particularly original. I liked Tom as a character much better than Anna, though I did feel sorry for her for the way her mother treated her. After a while, the story became repetitive and so it did drag on too much for me, and there was little emotional depth to this book.
