Hour 15: What kind of reader are you?

How do you choose the books you want to read for the RaT and for your everyday reads?
What type of reader are you? Are you a mood reader, do you make a yearly plan or are you somewhere in the middle?

I like making a plan for my reading, but with my plan I leave space for some mood reading.
I belong to NetGalley so I try hard to read those before publication date.
I also try to read one or 2 each month from my TBR that I actually own.
I also like to read some of the GoodRead Choice Award nominees and winners.
I sometimes join in a buddy read in a couple of the groups I am in. It is always fun to read the same book with other people and hear their thoughts.

I'm a mood reader, but I also try to pick out a few books that I would like to read during the year. Since I am a mood reader, I try to have at least 3 genres with a few books for each genre for my readathon TBR. I found that I spend too much time trying to decide on my next book if I don't have some picked out before the readathon.

I have learned to pick smaller books - quick mysteries, kid lit, graphic novels, etc. I also pick a few ebooks for when my eyes are getting tired later, and I need to have large print lol. I also do audiobooks, so I can remain a bit active throughout the day - mostly doing housework. On a normal reading day, I read for books clubs and Litsy challenges. I can't be a mood reader, because I become very indecisive.

I make a lot of plans and goals and mostly fail at them lmao. Most of my goals involve trying to get my TBR pile down to a more reasonable size, but those pesky library books are a constant temptation!

I'm an "oh crap that's due back at the library in two days" reader/mood reader. for the readathon I pick short audio books and graphic novels so I get variety in my day.

Mood reader as well as an oh crap my hold is about to expire reader. I like a variety in my reading. For the year in general I try to make a short list of books I hope to get to at some point in the year but I usually fail at actually reading most of them lol

I have GR TBR, rarely just take a book randomly. Love to combine different genres because I get bored quickly if I don't mix my books.

I usually am reading several different book at the same time. Different genres are best, but occasionally I end up with 2 that are too similar and it gets confusing.

Mood reader here! Looks like there are many of us here. Still, for the readathon I try to compile a TBR. It helps setting the mood, even if I end up not reading much from it

I would like to be a mood reader but I participate in quite a few buddy reads (also of series) so I end up with a yearly TBR lol

I'm definitely a plan reader . I usually use the Readathon to make progress on the two books I'm currently reading and break a possible reading slump with periodical . If the magazine is over 200 pages long I'll just read an article or two in it .

I usually plan for shorter books (100-150 pages) that are already on my regular TBR along with the audiobook that I'm currently listening to. Usually I try to finish all current reading prior to the readathon. That didn't happen this time so I spent about 5 hours finishing my current book (because it was so good) then jumping into my smaller planned reads. So I guess I'm a combo of planned & mood reading...

Oh man I’m chaotic. Too many books too little time. Didn’t plan a reading list this year just read what I already had on the go.

I have various ways of choosing what I’m reading and several books on the go:
1) blind date pick from a wrapped pile out of my TBR jar. I number them 1-20 and use a die to pick.
2) working my way through The New Lifetime Reading Plan
3) random number generator free m my GoodReads to-reads list
4) a book from the public library pile (I am always taking books out that look like an interesting read)
5) same as #4 from the University‘s library pile
6) a book from my unread book pile that I’ve randomly pulled off my unread bookcase
7) and if one of the libraries has a current blind date promotion something I’ve chosen from there.

And I’ll cycle through the above list with
