Childrens book from before 2004, hardback book. Plot is a young boy who has a cardboard box and uses it as a helmet. Family members add details to the box like holes for eyes and a mouth etc. Read around 1998-2004.

PLOT The boy is younger than 10 goes to each of his family members and they add details to the cardboard box. like giving the box a mouth or holes for eyes so he can see out of it. I do not know the author or the name of the book. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I read the book in primary school I do not know the exact year but I finished primary school in 1998 - 2004.

Do you remember if the boy ONLY uses it as a helmet? Or as other things as well?
From what I remember yes only as a helmet well he only uses it on his head., its quite a short story, I believe it takes place only in the house not sure if that helps.
