Hello Seo,
Congratulations on getting your Masters in journalism. That is no mean feat!
It sounds as if you already have read quite a bit in the danmei genre, but as many of us are discovering, there are so many books out there. So it is wonderful that you are now also reading them along with the rest of us.
Welcome 😊

Welcome 😊

I'm Nikki (25)
I joined this group because I had been seeing fan art for pretty much all of MXTX's works and adaptions on twitter (probably because I've been a long time fan of SVSS's artist Velinxi). Which, of course, drove me to curiosity so I'm dipping my toes in and trying to read as diverse of a sample of Danmei as I can (and Baihe too but unfortunately it has much fewer English translations).
I can speak English but I can read French and Latin
My go to fun fact is always that I'm colorblind.
Hi Nikki,
Welcome to the group!
The artwork in many of these books is wonderful so that is a great story how you slid 8nto enjoying the genre.

Name: Marcel/Marceli
Age: minor, approaching 17
Languages I can speak: Polish(born and raised there), English and a bit of Russian if i try
Why I joined: I fell in love with TGCF over 4 years ago, thanks to the gorgeous artstyle of its manhua. Later I kept digging, read 4 more volumes and decided to take a break, during it I watched entire Mo Dao Zu Shi.
I recently rediscovered my love for reading books when I read Remnants of Filth vol.1, and quickly continued by reading the first vol of Golden Terrace. (so far I’m waiting for both of their 2nd volumes to ship)
I love to learn about the culture and I, myself, am trying to deep my toes in writing a danmei story, doing my best to respect the culture. Historical romance writing is nothing new for me, but given I usually write about the western cultures, trying to write something about the ancient China is quite a fun challenge ^_^
I’m really chatty and I’d love to make friends here, especially since none of my current friends share my interest in danmei. My instagram is @phantom.five and i’m pretty active there :33
Hi Marceli,
If you are really chatty, then you can help start conversations here in this group. So welcome to the group!
“Golden Terrace” is a lovely set of books so definitely something to look for to there.
Looking forward to hearing your insights…

Age: 23
Reason for joining: I’m an avid reader of TGCF, MDZS, 2HA, and a few Priest novels. I’m revisiting the tgcf series after listening to some of the audio drama. It made me miss Hualian and Beefleaf 💔 I also want to see what other people recommend!
Languages: English, Chinese
Book IG: mugs.n.coffee
I look forward to finding more danmei to read and enjoying the community 🥰

2. 53
3. I am working on my debut Chinese fantasy novel and thought this would be a good group for inspiration. :)
4. English and some Korean and Chinese.
5. fun facts- I have written two short films and produced one. I started as a screenwriter before becoming an author. I graduated college at 47 years old. :) Life!
I hope to make friend here who love everything Asian and gain new followers for my novels. The cover is on my profile pic. :)

1) Name: Prefer not to say
2) Age Range: 20 - 27
3) I've been meaning to join a group like this one for a while. I love reading translations of historical Chinese novels, and started reading them after I got into Cdramas (mostly because of the sad or just horrible open endings). I also enjoy reading Danmei, my favourite series is SVSSS.
4) English. A little bit of Mandarin, at least HSK 1 level. I took Mandarin classes for a year and really want to continue learning the language but haven't had the chance whilst doing my Masters. Planning to pick it up again, it was my favourite language to study.
5) Studying for the SQE exams. Also trying to figure out how to knit.
It's really interesting reading other people's introductions. I have been on this app for years and have never actually talked about myself, not related to what I read. Hopefully I can find more people interested in reading the same genres I read, and maybe even help finding translations of novels. I recently found the translation for the novel that 'Legend of the Female General' is based on, through TikTok.

1. Name: Please call me Cee ^_^
2. Age: 30s
3. Reason for joining: I've seen Katie's updates sometimes in my feed and finally decided to join up. I'm always looking for recommendations!
4. Languages: English and rusty Japanese -- I lived in Japan for a year and was much more fluent back then... 10 years ago 😭😭
5. Fun fact: While MXTX's books were my introduction to danmei, I have a severe addiction to the stories featuring pro-gamers hahaha. I have read 我行让我上 I Can Do It 4 times in the last 3 years.

I started reading Danmei in 2023 and have been hooked ever since!
I also run a Danmei Reading Book Club over at Fable called 'The Danmei Den'
For this month we're reading 'Married Thrice to the Salted Fish'
Super excited to read this one!

Hi no-name Black/White,
You are probably not alone in being on this app for years before actually writing anything about yourself. It sounds as if your genre preferences overlap quite well with people here so we hope that you might like to join discussions here.
Look forward to reading your posts...

You seem tailor-made for this group!
I just saw that Seven Seas is publishing "Married Thrice to the Salted Fish". So I think I'll pick up a copy when they release it...

3. Why you joined the group: The discussions on X and reddit where I primarily interact with fandom are not doing it for me, would like to find more people to talk to.

How wonderful that you have returned to the world of books. If you have fallen down the danmei rabbit hole, you are in the right place here 😊

2. Age: 33
3. Why you joined the group: I got interested in Danmei the beginning of this year. First novel I read was MDZS and then I watched the cdrama series. I absolutely fell in love and became obsessed with finding more Danmei to read.

5. Fun fact: I traveled around the world a lot due to my family being military. Because of that, I have a weird mixture of an accent I gathered from countries I lived in. I want to continue traveling to other countries to learn their language and culture. I want to start making a scrapbook from places I lived and visited over the years.

2. Early 20s.
3. Wanted to see and try to communicate with more likeminded people
4. Mostly use English, but I also speak French, German, and a few others.

Name: Grace
Age: 29 (30 this month 🎉)
Languages: only English, studied some Spanish & German
Why I joined: I love seeing everyone’s recommendations for danmei I haven’t heard of before! I don’t know anyone irl who reads danmei, so I also joined for the community.
Random fact: I only started reading danmei around five years ago (MDZS was my first), but it quickly became the overwhelming majority genre of my home library over these past few years.
