Actually, I only read the Game series from her and I liked it. Analyzing it today, I wouldn't have like it so much because of the cheating aspect. I think that's where I got an "aversion" with books with cheating on it. But the writing in this one was weak and lazy. So misleading.

Ooh... I have a tendency to highlight like crazy whenever it's a brilliant book. I CANNOT wait! :) Oh, & I guess that I should also mention that if it's an "especially brilliant" book (since there are different gradations of "brilliance"), I've formulated a system whereby I color-code my highlights based on importance, subject matter, etc. Bottom line: I become neurotic when it comes to highlighting fantastic novels.

Jeanne, I know, right? One of my resolutions for 2015 is to balance out the amount of "crap" that I read w/ the number of "quality books" that I read. I have a chart on my computer to make sure that I stay on track. ;)

I've noticed that after reading a book by a truly talented author, I have a difficult time transitioning back to reading fluff. So after our BR on Thursday, I'm planning on reading I'll Meet You There. Therefore, I'll be able to discuss BOTH novels w/ you & Ya. xoxo

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I don't think I personally want to read Overruled anymore. At the very least I will wait for more reviews. It really bothers me that he acts the way he does when he has a daughter, I just don't think that's a book boyfriend I can get behind. Anyone who wants to read it, feel free to start a thread. :))

I'm with Jeanne on this one. I've maxed out my yearly quota for sh*tty characters. And I think that the hero in Overruled is especially sh*tty for demonstrating to his 10-year old daughter that it's okay for men to treat women abhorrently... and moreover, that it's okay for men to just walk in & out of their families' lives with abandon. NOT COOL. :(((

I agree, Share. This type of writing is making me weary. Real life is already difficult enough. Do I really want to bring crappy fictional characters into my life as well?

You know, I don't even have a problem with love triangles if they are well written. I just don't see myself swooning over a guy who shows up to play dad to his daughter and sleep with her mom when he feels like it, then goes back to screwing other women. I don't care if they have an open relationship, that's just icky. And what kind of mom puts up with that, I don't like the idea of her character either:(

I agree, Jeanne! Both parents are setting an awful example for their daughter. Have you read the blurb for Book Two in the series? This father is seriously setting his daughter up for a lifetime of dysfunction. :(

So true! I used to immediately buy the newer books with 5 star arc ratings, now I know better. I wait for the real reviews if you know what I mean. That's what I did with The Deal.

I know, right?!? And don't get me wrong. I'm a big supporter of (view spoiler)[ adoption... or being a foster parent... or being a "parental figure." But I just feel horribly for his biological daughter. That daughter will undoubtedly wonder: "How could you be there for that woman & those 6 kids when you weren't here for mom & me?" Expecting to sleep with her mom when he comes to visit is what I find appalling. You can't have your cake and eat it too when kids are involved. Open relationships shouldn't be an option for parents, how confusing. And yes! She is going to wonder why he picked them over her, and that's just sad. Furthermore, most psychologists agree that the childhood years (from birth to approximately age 8) are the formative years in terms of personality & social behavior. I was thinking the same thing! Now that we know that it's this Jake guy (and not Stanton) who's the hero in Book 2, it may be worth the read! I think that the storyline could be similar to Worth the Fall, which we all enjoyed enough. If Jake is willing to help this woman & the 6 orphaned kids, then he would be the sort of hero that I WANT to read about. ;)

OMG. I just had a mini heart attack. You know, that sick feeling in your stomach? With all these spoilers I just went from 100 to 0 in my desire to read this. And there is gone another BR I was looking forward to. Thank you so much for the spoilers. I have a 9 years old girls (turning 10 in June) and as a mother I feel terribly sad for the little girls in the book (even if it's just a fictional character). Sighing

Haha, YW Rejane...I usually avoid reviews ect as much as possible because I don't want to know everything about the book before I read it, but I kept seeing friends put it on their no way in hell type shelves and had to find out why. :))

Ami, I do think Jojo Moyes is dependable. The worst that I think can happen with her is she'll write something less awesome than her other stuff:))

I don't avoid spoilers. Actually, I "stalk" them. Lately, I trust no blurb and no author. And sadly, I don't pre-order anymore or automatically one click authors I used to like (trust).

Ya, (view spoiler)[NO, Drew didn't "try" to make out with a stripper. Drew "DID" make out with a stripper... right there in the apartment that he shared with Kate. He thought that Kate was cheating on him (since Kate was acting weird & sneaking off somewhere without telling him. In actuality, Kate was pregnant & was going to see her OBGYN. However, she was afraid to tell Drew, hence the "misunderstanding"). Drew timed it so that Kate would walk in while he was making out with the stripper. So what did Kate do? She walked into the bedroom, packed a suitcase, & then stormed out of the apartment & ran back home to her mother. In the meantime, Drew was so angry with Kate that he "tried" to have sex with the stripper. Fortunately for Drew, the sex never happened b/c he "couldn't get it up." (hide spoiler)] Drama, drama, drama... all resulting from a lack of honesty & communication. *sigh*
