Laura Jane | 26 comments Hi everyone, I'll be going to Europe next month for two weeks and I'm looking for some "vacation related" books if that makes sense. Last time I was abroad I read "One of the Girls" by Lucy Clarke and found that to be one of the best vacation-related books I've come across. I mostly read mysteries and thrillers but would love more recommendations in the romance or contemporary fictions genre.

Also I've already read "People We Meet on Vacation" so that ones out lol

Christine Mathieu | 948 comments Try the early Nancy Thayer novels like "Three Women at the Water's Edge", "Nell", "Family Secrets" and "Belonging". They are the perfect beach reads.
I can also recommend "Dancing at the Harvest Moon" by K. C. McKinnon, "A Peculiar Chemistry" by Kitty Ray, "Coming Home" by Rosamunde Pilcher (don't pay any attention to her reputation, she's a wonderful writer) and anything by Nicholas Sparks.

I agree that she's a wonderful writer, but hadn't heard anything about her reputation?

Kylin Swearingen | 55 comments I recommend Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson! It’s a summer romance about a family vacation but it’s also very emotional.

Elaine (elainefortune) into the Darkest Corner by Elizabeth Haynes is the only book I've ever felt 100% deserved the title of psychological thriller. Proper edge of your seat stuff. the author is a former police woman/detective from the UK. TW for domestic abuse.

I meant that she has a not justified reputation for writing schmaltzy novels. Her novels are anything but schmaltzy.
