Short story about various pwoples lives and a unicorn might have been tanith lee

Hi! Does anyone know the name of a book of short stories where all I remember was ther was shoet story that went a bit like:

There is a man and he relates to a unicorn.
There is a woman, his next life, who is to be sacrified to a unicorn only she survives and has to look after the next "sacrifice"
And finally he lives as a unicorn himself.

That is my brain juiced out!
Does it ring a bell with anyone?

I think tanith lee might have written the short story.
It is NOT related to her black/gold/red unicorn series though.
