Richaar | 133 comments Please help me out. I'm currently reading Empire of Storms, and it takes me forever because I'm in a reading slump. What do you usually do when you're in a reading slump??

Elramor | 2 comments What helped me while I was in a reading slump was to put the book down and start one that made me obsessed with books again

What happened to me was that I read a shitty romance book like two years ago and I just couldn’t read again for like a year and a half, I picked up scythe by Neal shusterman and that book made me OBSESSED with books again.
Then I tried reading the book again and I finally was able to finish it.

That’s what worked for me!

Ashley R | 61 comments Reread your favorite childhood books. Maybe read some magazines or articles. I’ve found it helps to get your brain out of the genre it’s stuck in.

Ritah | 6 comments Fast paced books ! another thing that helps is watching aesthetic book videos on TikTok to immerse you into whatever book they’re recommending.

Tanja | 315 comments I just pause for a moment, pick up another shorter book or a manga. And if I cannot read as much as I want I'm trying to not pressure myself and suddenly the desire comes back. Don't worry, sometimes we need distance from a thing we love to be aware of its meaning and value

message 7: by Kimiko (new)

Kimiko | 23 comments I usually read murder mysteries or thrillers so when I get in a "slump", I will pick up a cozy mystery...something light (like a Jessica Fletcher Murder She Wrote or similar) which is a fast and easy read or a Stephanie Plum, bounty hunter, book which gives me a great laugh following her hijinks as she struggles to "get her man". Those usually pick me up again and then I can go back to more hardcore mysteries again.

Kai's Darling | 660 comments I like to read bit by bit. even if it's a few words or just a sentence or two. eventually I snap out of it and become the obsessed book reader again, pestering my mom again about books she doesn't remember or hasn't read :)

William Cheney (william_cheney) | 31 comments I relisten to old favorite audiobooks, so that I can pay attention or not as the mood hits.

message 27: by Gypsy (new)

Gypsy (ignited_red_queen) | 25 comments I will either change the format I've been currently reading, read a different Genre or read/listen to a favorite one I've already read, if it's a really bad slump, I take a break and watch a movie or tv show. I never force myself to read when I'm not feeling it because that just takes the enjoyment out of it.
Another thing rearrange my book shelves, most times I'll come across a book I own that I forgot I had and that will inspire me to read.
