Mostly fantasy books: Fourth Wing, the assassin's blade, Queen of Shadows, Crown of gilded bones and ACOWAR .
The Song of Achilles, I laid on the floor and cried for 45 minutes. More recently If We Were All Villains by M.L. Rio
Selection series by Kiera Cass. Gets me every time. 🥲😭
Howl’s Moving Castle (Granted, it was during a little dysphoric episode so I was already a little emotional)

I feel like I have a favorite book for each different genre and trope.. so this is hard! But I really loved reading Becka Mac’s Playing for Keeps series! All of those books had characters the really resonated with me. I also loved The Witch Collector series (if I’m picking fantasy books)!
The Fault in Our Stars. sobbed for a half hour 😭

June First, The Great Alone and the book I'm reading now- Manacled!😭
Three books have brought me to tears...two, sad tears...one, crying from laugher.Grapes of Wrath, Steinbeck. (scene where the young children are in the road side store/cafe, and they are looking at, and wanting but know they are too poor to even ask, the penny candy)
Of Mice and Men, Steinbeck. (the whole stinking thing is sad, dealing with poverty, true friendship, sacrifice, mental illness and the end)
The Adventures of Huck Finn, Twain. (scene with Jim, Huck and Tom at the end, where Jim is actually a free man, but they keep him hidden/locked up for his wellbeing)
Reading "Birdsong, by Sebastain Faulks" at the moment, and his wartime scene/descriptions have been very powerful and heart wrenching...so, there's been some close moments.
Of Mice and Men also made me ugly cry

Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater and The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger are my go-to ugly crying books. More recently, Kristin Dwyer's Some Mistakes Were Made and The Atlas of Us.

If i have to choose i would probably say Empyrean series and "The Child of Love" by Maria Tsirita ( a greek book) ...
I was like 9 and read the Warrior Cat book where Firestar dies and I sobbed for like an hour straight...I still can't read that bookAlso when Sandstorm died, when Dustpelt died, when Spottedleaf died, when Squeillflight got taken and during the badger attack.
Okay they were sad books
