I’ve been looking for this book all over and can’t find it. It’s a coming of age, thriller type of book. Three friends are on the swim team and one of them has diabetes. Mary is the one with diabetes but the story isn’t told from her point of view. A new guy arrives at their school and joins the swim team too. He then starts to convince Mary that she doesn’t have to take her medicine, and Mary ends up falling really ill. I’m not even sure if her name is really Mary, but I think it is. I read it about 8-7 months ago.

Also the cover of the book is distinct. It’s a picture of a girl with borne hair and a red one piece school swim suit, standing on the very left side of the cover, and in the background you can see two more girls standing by the pool.

I’m sorry I meant brown hair not borne 😭 she has brown hair and she’s on the school swim team, so she has a school team swimsuit, I apologize if that wasn’t clear, thank you for the help. I’m almost positive it was from the ‘80s, but it also was most likely from the ‘90s.
