Children's book about a little boy given a beautiful Easter egg. From 1980's.

Good morning. I am writing in to ask if anyone remembers a book from the 80's about a little boy with these beautiful blond curls who was sleeping and a bunny came and laid this BEAUTIFUL Faberge Easter egg in his hand while he was sleeping. The book was big as I remember. The egg had a hole the little boy looked inside of and was transported to another world. All I really remember was that it seemed like a dream to him until he woke up and saw the egg in his open hand. I also remember the egg being exquisite and ornate. Vague, I know...but that's all I remember. The colors in my mind were lots of shades of grey and blues and a little pink. Would love to find the book. Was NOT The Country Bunny and the Little Gold Shoes.

The World in the Candy Egg?

Thank you for that response but unfortunately no.......in the book, the little child (I think was a boy) was looking out into the dream or make believe world after stepping inside the egg. The world at that time was lit by moonlight I think, as he stepped inside the egg and began the story. There was a hill in the distance. I just remembered this.
