Hamlet from Hamlet. I know he comes off as whiny, but... his dad literally died a month ago and everyone else has moved on and keeps pushing him to as well. I'd be pretty miserable too.

Also Emma from Emma (two titular characters LOL). I know she's supposed to be unlikable, but I just adore her. She's conniving, she's judgmental, she's petty, it makes the book such a delightfully enjoyable read since we get to see all of her scheming firsthand.

I've seen a lot of hate for Kathy H from Never Let Me Go. I can sort of understand people thinking she's "boring", but I don't really think that she is. She just happens to not be as bombastic and expressive as many other book protagonists, and that's okay. Sometimes it can be enough for a main character to just be on the more passive, pleasant side. :D
