message 54: by Vanessa (new)

Vanessa (vanessacumberlandcountypa) I would recommend Riley Sager's Riley Sager Home Before Dark Home Before Dark by Riley Sager . I'm not a genre reader of thriller and I still don't know if I understand all of the twists and turns but I did enjoy my experience with the book.

Evelyn (evelyntheshadowsinger) | 39 comments Last books I've read were Queen of Shadows & Run on Red, the first one is a YES because the series is so good and the second is a no because unless you like odd plots, main characters who's actions constantly conflict what the author say their personality is, and some mystery that is quite boring.

Tim Mcguire | 166 comments Star Trek First Contact, good companion to the movie.

message 58: by Sam (new)

Sam (samanthacoo) | 25 comments The Boyfriend by Freida McFadden, if you’re wanting to get into thrillers definitely pick up this book or any of her books. For me honestly she is the queen of thrillers!

Kai's Darling | 660 comments Champion by Marie Lu 5 ✨ would definitely recommend!

message 60: by Christine (new)

Christine Andrise | 4 comments This book is amazing, and it's different from any book I've ever read. It combines lots of opposites in a sharp yet sweet way. Habib's naivete in his relationships with animals is both endearing and hilarious. Then his outwitting of those in power is shrewd and satisfying. The tales'childlike wisdom captivated both my 83-year-old mom and my three-year-old nephew. I can't recommend this book highly enough!

Stephanie (stephisbranded) | 2 comments We Kept Her In the Cellar by W.R. Gorman. An absolutely incredible horror retelling of Cinderella. So good. So ghastly.

message 69: by Pisces51 (new)

Pisces51 The Resurectionist by James Wrath White. I rated it 4 Stars because I thought the first quarter of the book was going to make me throw something. The rest of the book riveted me to it like crazy glue. Recommend it? Is anyone here into Extreme Horror? If not I would NOT recommend it. It is really extreme.

Catherine Sabrina | 4 comments Guys i need something to get me out of my reading slump.. in the mood for some silly dark Romance😭 (but i dont want something that gives haunting adeline vibes)

Diana Jaques | 134 comments The Last book I read was Wit & Wisdom by Oscar Wilde.
I'd definitely recommend this one, especially to fans of Oscar Wilde's work.

Wit & Wisdom A Book of Quotations by Oscar Wilde

message 72: by Pisces51 (new)

Pisces51 Well, that would be "American Narcissus" by Chandler Morrison. It was the first book of satirism I have read and it was not a "good fit" for me. I had loved Dead Inside. Morrison is a master wordsmith and an excellent writer. Initially I could not get into the California glitz and glamor of that affuent lifestyle. But I did get hooked along the way. I am likely going to rate it 5 Stars, but I have not written the book review yet. So at least 4 Stars but possibly 5 Stars.

message 73: by Mimi (new)

Becky Jarvis | 4 comments The Roads Chosen:

The Roads Chosen by Ben Carlyle

I've read a stacks of thrillers and almost always I've been sunk into hours of yawning at the utter implausibility of the plot and the actions within. In most cases, I've put the book aside before its ending; and searching for better choices why I joined Goodreads. In following reviews that contain some level of critical analysis, already I'm unearthing better books. The Roads Chosen is so real and, for me, sits so far above the outlandish yarns that the big publishing houses tell us is from "a master storyteller and the best you'll ever read".
I've no idea why The Roads Chosen was not picked up by a mainstream publishing house and backed by a glowing review from a broadsheet, it deserves such attention.
A thriller grounded in the real life issues for the peoples of Eastern Europe/Central Asia and simply bolted to the factual issues affecting real people. Yet still able to lace a riveting plot line around organised crime, intelligence gathering and systemic abuse of young people.
The most grounded, suspenseful thriller I've ever read.

Bibliophilic.girl (bibliophilicgirl) | 79 comments I've read The Family Experiment a thriller which i 100% reccomend
