Mia Kipp | 6 comments i remember this book from about 10 years ago, maybe a little less. and don’t even know if i read the book so i might just be remembering the cover page synopsis. in my mind its a bluish whitish book cover. in the plot there’s a woman and im pretty sure a boy is in her walls. like a ghost not a live boy. maybe her dead son’s ghost or something. not sure if any of this is accurate but i think the boys name started with an A, like alex or something. this is all i know and im probably living it up with other books at this point but its been driving me crazy. i appreciate your help!!!

edit: it was like a horror authors convention when i got it. i was also like 8/9 years old so its not very adult (although my reading level was very high at the time so it mightve been YA)

Mir | 805 comments Not very close but just in case you're conflating books:

The Woman in the Wall a little girl who is very shy hides herself in the wall of her family home to avoid school and lives there for years. She only communicates sometimes with her little sister. People might think the place is haunted, I can't recall.

A Stir of Bones I don't remember the details, but I think there was a ghost boy and the girl (who is abused by her father) can see him after she finds his bones hidden in the wall of her house or a nearby house.

Jade Michaelson (goodreadscomjmichaelson06) | 289 comments Ok I'm not sure if this fits, I'm basing it off this movie I saw back in 2016 called The Boy.

This movie had a man living in the walls and basically terrorizing people. It was based off a short film, which was based off a book.

Miss Corpus by Clay McLeod Chapman.

No idea if that's it, but that's the first thing that came to mind! Reading the synopsis, it's probably not it.. sorry.

Care Kelley | 2 comments Sounds like Girl in the Walls? It was really good but published in 2021. And it's a girl in the walls, not a boy. But there is a boy involved.

OMG. Your post reminded me of "People Under the Stairs" so I was checking to see if that was based on a book -- apparently it was inspired by an actual incident.

Capn | 3506 comments Mia - do you think it's possible that the book was in a series for middle grade/young YA readers? I'm thinking of all the horror series that cropped up after Goosebumps started selling.

Did you get the impression that it was from one of those sets/series? Or perhaps a standalone?

What's on the cover - an image or just words? You said it was a blue-white colour scheme. Does it have a picture of a haunted mansion or a face or something? (Assuming you can recall!). :)

I was young and honestly dont remember enough that this would even be possible to find. I think there mightve been stairs on the front cover or inside cover- houselike tho regardless. it couldve been a series but I dont think so. the author was at a convention in rochester NY at the time (2014/15 i think) if that helps. Thank you!
