SOLVED. Children's Sci-fi novel about a boy in space with his robot dog. Read in 2012 or so. [s]

No clue when the book was actually released, but I think it was published by Scholastic. I think a lot of the book took place on Mars or some other strange planet, and the main character was a boy whose name I can’t recall and his robot dog best friend, named BC (remember that very distinctly for some reason). None of the plot is very clear in my memory unfortunately.

There's a robot dog called BC in the Boy vs Beast series by Mac Park. I believe the first book is Aquatan.
