SOLVED. Children's book where child sees things in tree outside bedroom window [s]

Hello everyone, I really hope you can offer some help. I am driving myself insane trying to figure out the title of this book — I read it when I was around 6 (in the mid-80s). It was about a child who was afraid of the things they would see in a tree outside their bedroom window at night. I remember each "scary" thing being a different color. I think there was a white or silver leopard (possibly a tiger) in the tree, a purple equine-type creature (can't remember if it was a unicorn, horse or zebra) in the tree and perhaps even a witch and a snake. I'm sure there were more things in the tree (I think the book taught colors as well). The illustrations are what have really stuck in my mind, but I can't remember the text or the title. Help! I'm going bonkers! Thanks in advance to anyone who reads this!
