This book is so good. Scratch that. The entire series is absolutely amazing. I loved it so much I bought myself the entire series.
But since I just read it and have a pile of books I have to get to this month I’ll have to skip this BOTM.

I’m totally enjoying this book …. It’s not overtly “fantasy” at least not so far. I could see this playing out in a way in countries that are not open to the Gospel. North Korea comes to mind….

I'm new to this group, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that you're currently reading one of my favorite books. I was actually intending to possibly suggest it for next month:). I'm not sure if I'll actually be reading it, because I'm already in the middle of multiple books, but I read it twice last year, so I'll definitely be joining in on the discussion.

I'm currently in the middle of like four books, as well. And I have another library book that I haven't started yet. Back in November, I actually reread both Dare and Deny, but I never got around to rereading the rest of the series. Still, the idea of rereading dare now is tempting, when everyone else will be discussing it. No one that I know has read this series.

You can either send me just characters for the first book or the entire series. Keep it to 20 or less characters.

The Christian elements were right on, but it did throw me to find accurate Christian terminology in a fantasy book. I got used to it, though :D

Yeahh, me too. Tbh I feel like it didn’t meet my expectations and I overhyped it way too much :/

It also lacks writing depth and world building imo
Like the characters can be a bit bland…

I personally think that the character depth and worldbuilding get better later in the series. Especially the character depth. I did rate Dare five stars, but it's not my favorite in the series, and I do agree that the characters can seem a bit bland at first.

Yeah. *laughs* I personally love when books start off like this. Have to say, I like this beginning better than The False Prince's beginning, but I also like this series better. (Although The Ascendence Series is great, as well.)

I've been getting through this pretty fast considering it's a re-read. But then again, I do tend to re-read favorites faster than I read some books for the first time. :)
