Jennifer | 55 comments Ribbons of Scarlet by Kate Quinn This was an anthology novel where several different authors each wrote a section from a different character's point of view, but all the sections are connected and characters appear in each section. This particular novel was focused on the French Revolution from the perspective of women at the time. We hear from a variety of women on all sides of this conflict and all walks of life - a street vendor who was part of the Women's March right up to a princess.

While the stories were interesting, I found this novel a little disjointed. The sections didn't flow as smoothly and it felt like there were some gaps in the narrative. Still worth a read to see a different perspective to a pivotal time in France's history. 3* Ribbons of Scarlet

Finished 3/11/2024: 2 stars.

I had 0 clue what to expect going into this book. This was a horror story, which is not my usual genre, so take my review with a grain of salt.

I didn't really care for this book. I found the writing to be a bit clunky and parts of it dragged while other parts were seemingly glossed over. There was a lot of violence and gore in this book, almost over the top in the way it was written. Without giving too much away, the "dad" is written cartoonishly, and there were a lot of questions unanswered at the end. It seemed to be gory for gory's sake without a real purpose behind it.

When in the mood for a good urban fantasy, I can't go wrong with an Ilona Andrews.
