Barnes & Noble is the closest one to my home so I like to walk around there a lot. It’s in a cute little shopping center so I can grab a coffee with a friend and then wander around the store. I like their buy 1 get 50% off sale that they usually do all the time and I just wait until a book that I really like is a part of the deal or if there’s a popular book I want and don’t wanna pay full price target sells them cheaper, but I only go there for books if I have to go pick something else up. I think they’re automatically 20% off around $14 (in my area the average book price is $20). I’m lucky that I have an indie bookstore in the next town over. It’s a bit harder to get to as it’s in a highly trafficked area and parking is difficult but I love to support the local bookstore whenever I can even though it’s not necessarily affordable. 😊

There's a local bookstore that's Mom & Pop owned in my town, Harvey's Tales, that I shop at! Otherwise, any used book store, preferably privately owned.Open Books in Chicago is a local used & new book store that's also a non-profit supporting literacy programs. :)
libraries!! all of my counties different locations have a for sale section that changes regularly and at $.25-$.75 a book you can't beat it!
Barnes and Noble (but I'm biased. I've worked there for 11 years). I also like Thriftbooks and Book Outlet.
Book Off which you can check out here: https://www.bookoffusa.com/. They also sell CDs, video games, and electronics. And will buy used books from you.If you're ordering online, I recommend checking prices via: https://www.gettextbooks.com/.
My favorite is B&N (mostly for my online books). I also shop at Thriftbooks and local used book stores,
I used to love going to a bookshop here called Fact & Fiction which was glorious - the owner was a very terse gentleman who loved playing great music and knew his store like the back of his hand, but he brooked no time-pass readers and refused to carry magazines, etc. You went there if you LOVED to read and wanted a wonderful variety of quality reading. He used to curate the books on the shelves himself and was at the store-desk every single day. For years it was my weekend ritual until he had to close down a few years ago.Now sadly I don't have as many great book shops around me. There is a store called Midlands which is pretty decent but selection is limited and oft leans best-seller and mainstream popular (I don't blame them!) because the audience is of a certain bent. For me it is limiting as I like to explore old and new and many times titles I learn of that are not always all that well-known.
When I go anywhere with a Kinokuniya outlet, I will 100% spend hours there! They have a great selection whenever I've visited and I always find more than I can pick up in a single visit.
Other than that, I often ask friends and family who are in other countries to pick up books for me that are not locally available in India easily.
Oh and I fund about 2-3 kickstarter projects a year for graphic novels on average.
half-price books storesbarnes-n-nobles
my library has book sales every year like two or three sometimes
and thrift stores

That is pretty much how I felt about the bookshop I mentioned just before you - I had very few major "local book stores" when very young and fewer still as chain stores became more common by my mid/late teens.
So I treasured that rare store that had genuinely interesting variety instead of just what is more likely to sell.
I love my local books-a-million! They always have interesting themes in their cafe (themed drinks), events throughout the year, and they have shelves with staff picked favorites in many different genres if you’re looking for something new/different to read. Also they have a great manga selection XD
barnes and noble, but there is this small book store in the town where my college is that i really like to go to whenever i can cause they have a bunch of books and they are all are really cheap!!
Just bought some books from Bookwiseonline.co.uk .Lock Lamora Trilogy for 9.99 and Joe Abercombie the Madness trilogy for 11.99 - price was too good to miss :)
Thriftbooks is good, although I don’t buy a lot from there. I like finding stores devoted to used books where I can sift through random stacks and find books that look good. But also, I currently am living in Turkey, and they have some AMAZING book shops, so I go to those.
I tend to use World of Books and Better World Books for secondhand but for new releases and special editions I use Waterstones which is a UK bookstore chain.
I used to like B&N but found that Target/Walmart have cheaper books, although they don't have as many as bookstores, obviously lol
