As one of the top choices according to the poll, the Quarterly Book Club is reading I'll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson for the Apr-Jun Quarter of 2015.

So, what did you think? Hates? Likes? Droolworthiness? Plot? Romance? The characters themselves?

I started reading this last week, and I'm having a bit of trouble with it. Its not sucking me in like I expected. I had really high expectations because everyone loves this book! Anyone else having trouble or having a completely different experience?

Nina {ᴡᴏʀᴅs ᴀɴᴅ ᴡᴀᴛᴇʀ} | 1046 comments Mod
I have yet to start this.

Have you finished it yet? (I completely forgot that you posted here, but then you did tell me via pm lol ).

Ha no! It had to go back to the library, but I was able to check out the ebook. I read faster on ebooks, so I'm hoping that will speed things up a bit. I'm still not sucked it, and to be quite honest if I wasn't so hellbent on finishing this, I would have DNFed it.

Oh lollll. So still very slow I take it? But now this makes me a bit worried O.O. Still I haven't even gotten my hands on it yet.....

Very slow for me. The chapters are huge! It's getting better now that I'm approaching the end. I'm hoping for a strong finish to redeem it for me

Nina {ᴡᴏʀᴅs ᴀɴᴅ ᴡᴀᴛᴇʀ} | 1046 comments Mod
Hopefully there is a strong finish! There must be one, otherwise I'm not sure I get the 'loving' bit. Okay, I'm starting to sound pessimistic about this...but then again I did try The Sky Is Everywhere and not make it through previously (this might have been because I had to return it to the library, or because it was boring, so it's not a really reliable comparison haha). Anywho, I await your review! ^^

Alright, so this book definitely finished off strong for me. Around half way through the book (which I think was way too late) I started getting sucked into the book. I was intrigued by what happened to these twins to force them apart so much. I also discovered that I preferred one twin's story over the other and thats because one of them used metaphors like nobody's business. I like metaphors but I thought it was way too much. But on the other hand, I liked reading about Noah's struggle with having a crush on a boy. We definitely need more stories like this.

I hope I didn't make you pessimistic about it! It is a really good story, I just struggled with the chapters that were sometimes over 100 pages long. Im also not a huge fan of lots of metaphors being thrown at me. I started to get lost in the metaphors and because I wasn't as interested at first, I would get confused about what was the metaphor and what was actually happening.

A strong finish is promising! I saw your final rating LOL.

Hmm okay I will still read this (would have regardless but well how long it would take me…) to see for myself!

Nina {ᴡᴏʀᴅs ᴀɴᴅ ᴡᴀᴛᴇʀ} | 1046 comments Mod
And nah you didn't make me pessimistic, I think I already was based on the hype (too much book nerd pressure xD)

Lol Its more like a 3.5, but I was feeling generous. But still, I feel like thats surprising considering how much I was dragging with this book lol. I'm interested to see how you'll like this book because my guess is a toss up in the air! Lol good. I think it was hyped up too much as well. I had way High high expectations for this.

Nina {ᴡᴏʀᴅs ᴀɴᴅ ᴡᴀᴛᴇʀ} | 1046 comments Mod
xD how very generous of you ! Lol. Well I hope I'll like it, but the hype keeps putting me off (same goes for the Red Queen for me). I'm still curious about the story (admittedly, I only looked at the premise the other day for the first time when you started reading it) and I will give it my all, but I will probably hate the part where it takes until halfway to get interesting!

Alright guys, I finally posted up my review of this book on my blog https://poisonforthesenses.wordpress....

Im still really conflicted about this book. Everyone seems to love this book but it just didn't hook me in!

I feel absolutely horrid for forgetting to go to the library today! I'll Give You the Sun is sitting there waiting for me to pick up...however since I was so busy these last two weeks I forgot to go, and T.T now it doesn't look like I'll get a chance to read it before the end of the quarter! Welllll hopefully everyone else enjoyed it! (Or not :P)
