Elaine | 183 comments I am DNFing Fathers of the Bride by Marshall Thornton and Broken (Unlucky 13, #1) by Andi Jaxon . My other book is a spin-off of another series so I am going to save it for when I have read the original books. So The Star (Charleston Condors, #1) by Beth Bolden will have to wait awhile.

Matched for Christmas (The Dates of Our Lives #10) by Lorelei M. Hart
Rating: 2 Stars
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I don't recommend this book. It felt cobbled together and rushed to just put something out for Christmas. My review goes into it more thoroughly.

Haven Holiday (Love at the Haven #7) by Stella Shaw
Rating: 3 Stars
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I liked this, except for the last paragraph ruined it for me. My review explains why it was a 'throw my Kindle at the wall' moment.

Marty (martymill) | 1299 comments Finished Screenplay by MacDonald Harris - it was a bit of a slog. Unsympathetic MC, a little more satire than I was expecting. I thought it would be darker. I gave it three stars because it was well written.

Working on Fat Girl, Terrestrial by Kellie Wells now. 26 pages in and it's much much better.

A Longer Fall (Gunnie Rose, #2) by Charlaine Harris

Book - A Longer Fall
Author - Charlaine Harris
Date - 3/14/24
Rating - 3 stars
Review - Lisbeth joins a new crew and their job is to escort a crate to Dixie on a train. When they are almost there the train is attacked and the crate is stolen. At the same time Eli shows up unexpectedly and he and Lisbeth search for the crate in Dixie.

Book 2 was tad bit duller than book 1. The action started out pretty quick as the train was taken over and the crate stolen, but as soon as the other MC, Eli shows up the action turned to mostly sex. Every other page they were boinking each other and honestly is was dull. Although they do find the crate in the end even that was a let down.

Marty (martymill) | 1299 comments Finished Fat Girl, Terrestrial by Kellie Wells Fat Girl, Terrestrial. It was surprisingly good for the most part. It started to get a bit messy, plot-wise about a third of the way through. Still, it was clever and interesting, so I gave it four stars.

Marty (martymill) | 1299 comments Finished my last book for this month: The Time of Mute Swans A Novel by Ece Temelkuran . It was a pretty slow burn, but it grew on me. The novel takes place in 1980's Turkey during the government coup. The narrative alternates between two children: Ali who comes from a poor Liberal family who are targeted by the conservative police. Alyse is the daughter of nominally conservation parents with secret Liberal leanings (particularly on her mother, Svegi's part. The book was beautifully written and the author helpfully included a glossary at the end to help with the unfamiliar names and events. I gave it four stars.
