10.8 - Spring Forward
Many countries change their clocks to "summer time" in the spring, with the phrase. "spring forward, fall back" used to remind people which way to change their clocks

Read the next book in a series that you've already started. Half-numbers (eg #1.5) will work as long as they are next in the series.
The book must be new to you, and the series name must be noted in grey parenthesis under book title.

REQUIRED: state that the book is new to you AND which book in the series you have previously read

♞ Pat Gent | 786 comments Are you asking us to read the book that follows the last book that we actually read of this series or the most recently published numbered book in the series?

Does that make sense?

Example: In a 5 book series, where I have read books 1 & 2, then I would read #3 and not #5?

Michelle (michellesoleil) | 361 comments Just to be clear, it should be OK for us to read #1 in the series as long as we've already read #0.5? I'm looking specifically at:

The Fall (#0.5)
Of Blood and Fire (#1)

Thank you :)

Yes, the next book in a series where you have read at least one of the series already, so in this case you would read #3

Yes, that will work

Thanks. I was hoping that was the case, but wanted to be sure before I started hunting down a book.

Florence | 679 comments is there an option for readers who do not currently have a series of books they are reading? for example could they read book 1 of a new series?

perhaps you could start a series using the first book for another task and then read the second book for this task

We would recommend that you do as suggested by Marie & read book #1 of a series for another task & then use book #2 for this task.

Trish (trishhartuk) | 3675 comments Morning.

I've been working my way through Neil Gaiman's Sandman. I've got to Volume 8 at this point: The Sandman, Vol. 8: Worlds' End, having read Volume 7 on 25 July 2023.

I just wanted to check it was okay, as while the series name is on the book page in grey, it doesn't have a #8 after it - as that's in the title.

Thanks.

Trish (trishhartuk) | 3675 comments Just pinging this, as my query, above, has been waiting for a while. It comes down to does the grey series name also have to have the series number.

In this specific instance, I will allow the series as the volume number is included in the title.
The moderators will discuss & come up with a future ruling!

Trish (trishhartuk) | 3675 comments Thanks.

I hadn't seen this combo before, hence I thought I'd better check it.

Julia (julia103) | 2718 comments If I'm only using the whole number books in a series but not the half-numbers, is that OK?

i.e. In the Kate Burkholder series I've read the whole numbers thru #13 (Fallen) but I haven't read Disappeared (12.5) or Blood Moon (13.5).
Can I use The Hidden One (#14)?

Yes, we will allow this as we know some people prefer to not read offshoots/side storylines that often appear in the half numbers
