Harley Parks | 13 comments I absolutely love horror. I am a reader and writer. I have a series of books I'm working on called The Haunted House Journals Of Sarah. The books are written as journals from her.point.of view. All 3 span the course of a year of her life as her and her family move into an old, haunted Victorian mansion in the small town of Cone Grove. What do you think of the idea? Hopefully book 1 will be out in June.

Brian Heck | 3 comments horror/horror fantasy are a genre I enjoy. Two of my favorites in this area are Stephen King and Clive Barker.

Your premise sounds intriguing. Good luck.

Krista Avila | 6 comments Iove a good horror book! The most horrifying books I've read has been Tender is the Flesh (if the world has to rely on cannibalism) and Sister, Maiden, Monster (zombies sorta). But I've really been into Simone St. James lately. just read Broken Girls and that was fairly spooky.

Not much now.

Ingunn Pat-El | 4 comments Horrors a wonderful genre but I find so much trouble finding books that aren't rape-y in feel and description. Does anyone have any suggestions? To be clear, I fine with this sort of feel if it advances the plot(think 1984, fight club) but if it feels unnessecary then I find it harder to read. Can any of you help with this?

I'm not the biggest fan of King but it's wonderful you found an author you like!

I read Tender is the Flesh! Are these other books similar to it? I've been trying to find similar books but I haven't had much luck.

James Joyce (james_patrick_joyce) | 16 comments For many decades, yes.

I'm also a mystery fan and a scifi fan and a fantasy fan. Admittedly, fantasy gets less action, lately, than scifi and mystery.

I also read the occasional "literary" novel (but no, I've never got through any of my namesake's novels).

message 17: by Steven (new)

Steven | 14 comments I’m straight up sf, fantasy, and horror fan. Even mystery/suspense noir is no exception. Lovecraft, Clark Ashton Smith, and Robert E. Howard, are my favorites. Same with Bradbury, Dunsany, and Wellman. I will always be reading Karl Edward Wagner, and Fritz Leiber. (Fafhard and Grey Mouser, anybody?) For the literary, it’s Theophile Gautier, Baudelaire, Grabinski, Poe, and Bierce.
