xoxo_lils | 29 comments I recently got into a big slump, and I can't read for more than 30 minutes at a time. Does anyone have some tips on how to get out/books that got them out of slumps?

message 2: by char (new)

char | 18 comments I don't know if he's your style but I definitely recommend Stephen King. I started Finders, Keepers and read almost 200 pages last night. It's that good.

message 3: by Maia (new)

Maia | 428 comments YA books usually get me out of a slump because they’re quite fast paced i’d recommend a good girls guide to murder or five survive both by holly jackson

message 4: by Jazzy_J234 (new)

Jazzy_J234 | 114 comments Maybe try reading a graphic novel they're short and my get you out of a reading slump.

Love_and_lilacs | 14 comments Try rereading something you really enjoyed previously.

I would also suggest something shorter, like a novella, so that it doesn't take as much time to finish!

aubrey౨ৎ₊˚⊹ | 173 comments don’t be afraid to sit a book down and come back to it later! even if you would usually enjoy it, it might just not be what you’re in the mood for right now. find a book with tropes you love and a plot that you know will keep you interested. read at your own pace and eventually the want to read will come back

message 7: by taylor (new)

taylor | 50 comments i usually just let the slump ride itself out- there’s no point in forcing yourself to read when you don’t want to (it’ll just make you unhappy lol). that being said some of my favorite motivators to read are watching booktube, scrolling bookstagram, and honestly interacting on goodreads. don’t pressure yourself when you’re in a book slump, with time you’ll eventually find the motivation to read!! best of luck❤️

Sarah|ساره🍉 | 255 comments Try re-reading your favorite books
Read some short novellas
Read graphic novels/ mangas

message 9: by Erin (new)

Erin (ererkennedy) | 26 comments ^ i agree, try re reading your favourite books.

not sure what you're into - but I find fast paced books (Freida McFadden for thriller, Abby Jimenez is pretty fast paced for romance, not super into fantasy but Powerless by Lauren Roberts was so good) really tend to get me out of a slump :)

message 10: by maya ☆ (new)

maya ☆ (is starting uni!) (chicknotcorea) | 149 comments i would suggest picking up some fast-paced books, like romance, young adult fiction or some good thrillers. perhaps audiobooks might be a better fit in the meanwhile.

Alexandria ˙⋆✮ | 209 comments It depends on what you like. If you are into romance, you should read Ali Hazelwood books, some of them are really funny. Maybe it's not that you're in a reading slump, maybe you didn't found anything worth your time yet. Keep searching until you find something that make you stop everything else. It's okey to put down books that we don't like, don't force yourself!

message 12: by Devon (new)

Devon Kate 🤍 | 19 comments It sounds really silly, but I got a kindle and it changed the game for me. I read 3 books in 6 months last year, then I got a kindle and read 43 the other half of the year. It’s easy to pick up, highlight your favourite quotes, track your reading🤍

message 13: by Sty1iani (new)

Sty1iani I started using this app it’s called flora and you can make add a timer and grow a tree and if you leave that app your tree dies. I have set a reminder for the app and every day I read at least and hour. It has gotten me out of so many reading slumps from big ones to small ones. I definitely recommend the shatter me series as well if your looking for a book to get out of the slump it has short chapters and the plot is addictive. Some of the books also end on cliffhangers and really made me want to get to the next book. The first one might be a little confusing but that is because of the world building and if you continue the series it gets so amazing. I also recommend going and watching ideas on a book your planning to read to really get you in the mood of the book.

message 14: by luna ♡ (new)

message 18: by Sumi (new)

Sumi | 6 comments So I have a ' want read list' and end reading book that are not actually on my wish list... anybody does that?

message 19: by Lyla (new)

Lyla | 1 comments I recommend reading a favorite book or the book that got me into reading. Whenever I’m in a slump I reread the shatter me series (specifically ignite me) because it’s the series that interested me in reading in the first place! While there are better books, those hold a special place in my heart. If you can’t find something new to be excited about, spark old excitement.

message 20: by rae (new)

rae reread a book! i love the skyward series, and have read them time after time, and i love them so, so much, and yes absolutely shatter me, though maybe skip the novellas? they can get a bit repetitive. or wait, read or reread the hunger games. fast-paced, easy book, awesome characters, great reads!

Brooke🧸🎀 Courville | 2 comments Read the cruel prince it’s genuinely so good 😊 I know it gets a lot of mix reviews but I love it 🥰

⋆ b r e z ! ⋆ | 1019 comments I was just in a HUGE slump from a book that I ending up DNFing (Destroy The Day) and I found that reading a book you love can really help. In this instance I read Caraval, and now I’m not in a reading slump anymore. Hope this helps. 😊

message 23: by Psychii (new)

Psychii Shade | 75 comments I would say try re reading one of your old books you know you like or love that you haven't read in awhile
Or Try Re Reading your favorite arc of a different book (I mainly Do This With WebToons)
Sometimes
I just drop the book that has me in a slump if I do not seem to like it and start another
I usually read a few books or a whole book series and then go back to the old book

message 42: by gladness (new)

gladness | 20 comments re-reading ur fave books, or reading some short stories/novellas!!

message 43: by (new)

❀ | 241 comments I would recommend watching some booktube videos, it's always motivates me to read.
Sometimes I choose to reread my fav books, only because I miss those characters and it feels good to read about them again.
Also maybe read a shorter, fast paced book with big letters. I hate small letters when I'm in a slump, the book feels like it doesn't want to end.

message 44: by Linn h (new)

Linn h | 24 comments I was in THE BIGGEST reading slump last year until I found Once upon a broken heart by Stephanie Garber I know you're supposed to read Caraval first but I think Ouabh is way better and I read it in like 3 Days.
