I finished it yesterday and I’m still thinking about it! I wonder how many books it’s going to be because this definitely feels like a slow burn with lots of layers.

Calista | 163 comments I started the book yesterday and Meatbun is such a great writer. So clear and her characters just stand up on their own. I get a very creepy vibe so far. Interesting. I can't wait to read more.

🍓🍓🍓 This year i started reading heaven official blessing book series (novel). Now i am reading the second book and I’m loving it❤️❤️.
If you still haven’t read it i highly recommend to read it!!

Румяна Currently on chapter 169 (reading a fan translation right now). Time and again Xie Qingcheng and He Yu break each other's hearts. I don't think I've cried so much over a novel before. Does someone know when these two will stop hurting themselves and just be happily together? Even just for a moment? Because I'm on the verge of skipping to the last chapter so I can see them "live happily ever after". I don't think I can cope with reading for so many heartbreaks. I'm not tough at all.

I'm halfway through the first book and it's good, but they both hate each other. It's rough. I've never read a book like this. It's good, but so far the romance is lacking. I'm interested where it goes. I don't know if I'm reading for a painful ride like you are talking about. I like a real romance between the characters. Anyway. Thanks for the heads up what's coming.

Just how many Chapters does this have? 169 is up there. Thanks.

I know what you mean about the lack of romance in the first book. I noticed it, too. This though changes later on but because He Yu is too passionate and devoted, Xie Qingcheng is too cold and unwilling to share his own sufferings and there is a huge conspiracy both of them are related to in some ways, it's hard for them to make things work between each other and instead they end up hurting themselves and each other a lot. Sometimes without even realising it. And because He Yu is the more fragile, there are lots of tears and disappointments, and heartbreak on his end. There are some really pleasant and heartwarming moments between the two of them. It's just that they're short, few and quickly followed by more painful ones than the ones preceding the good ones. The novel is interesting and worth reading but it's quite tough at times and makes me wonder when the characters will be able to settle down. I hope you can enjoy it more than me.

So it's going to be at least 8-10 books. OK, I'm mentally prepared now for the wait. Thakns

Pymrha, Thank you for the summary of what to expect. I'll keep going and hopefully it will be worth the read. Meatbun is an excellent storyteller.

I know. I finished reading it a week ago. I was so happy when I read the last chapter of the main story that I wanted to cry like He Yu did then. I found the extra chapters quite enjoyable after all the pain and suffering in the main story, so in a way it was worth it just to get to that point.

Pymrha, I'm so glad the story was worth it. I finished reading the first book published. I really enjoyed it. I found myself wanting more and missing the characters. I kept wanting to go back to the story. It's different from anything I've ever read. We have the first 30 chapters or so. I wish they would publish these things faster.

Hi is it possible to share the fan translation link? I own the first volume but I really want to finish the book now, I will buy it later once it's released fully anyway to re-read it. Thanks

Shayne | 2 comments Just finished the first book! It wasn't quite what I expected but it was really good nonetheless. I won't lie, it took me a bit to get through the beginning of it... but after that it was a breeze. I can't wait to read the rest of the books.

So, are you saying that it pays to stick around and not be too hung up on red flag city? I must admit that I am slightly hesitant, because she is very on the nose...

Ah, sadly none of the books there go beyond the 1st Volume that's officially released and which I own. If you ever find the full translation I would be really grateful

Calista | 163 comments Did anyone else notice the street food they were eating. I keep wondering if it's a real thing. Surely Meatbun wouldn't just make something up like that, but I've never heard anything like it.

They ordered fried rabbit heads. They ate the brains and spit out the bones. Is that a real deal? I was shocked. They must be sort of small bunnies because a rabbit head is sort of big and I can't imagine getting the whole thing in there. It seems very crunchy. It was just such an odd food choice. It's so odd, I figure it has to be real.

Wow! Thanks Katie for that find. I don't know if I could eat it. I love a good rabbit stew, but I don't know about a head. Maybe, if a cute man was buying. haha. That's very different. So, it's real. Good ol' Meatbun to keep it real

fish (haitangs) | 16 comments it's one of asia’s street food delicacy so no one batted an eye on it. in a western perspective it's quite shocking to read but I assure you it was good as long as the marinade sauce is good haha

Katie❄️ (theicequeen) | 263 comments Rabbit stew is good. I haven't had that in forever. It's something about the bones. I enjoy watching eastern cooking videos but always wince when they cleaver up meat and leave all the bones.

Fish, how interesting. I guess with a good sauce... Thanks for sharing.

Katie, I do know that marrow is very healthy. Soaking it into the stew is probably a good thing.

Katie❄️ (theicequeen) | 263 comments Bones are good for stew and broth. I just prefer them separated so I can discard them. (or I cook whole and debone) Silly, I know.

Calista | 163 comments Katie❄️ wrote: "Bones are good for stew and broth. I just prefer them separated so I can discard them. (or I cook whole and debone) Silly, I know."

Katie, I know plenty of people who hate teeth on bones. They won't eat meat with bones in it at all. It's not silly at all.

Katie❄️ (theicequeen) | 263 comments It is extra work but then I can just eat. It's kinda like shrimp tail shells. I don't want to have to fuss with those either. I know some people eat them but they are just so plastic like.

I agree about the shrimp tail shells. We are all different.
