#5 in the Hawthorne series
#7 in Cara Hunter’s the DI Fawley series due out in November
The Queen of Poisons

#3 in the Marlow Murder Club series, it’s already out in the UK but doesn’t release over here until June 4th

Well there will always be a few during the year I suppose but the first one I can't wait to get is....
The Wrong Hands by Mark Billingham
Due out in May/June this year and it is the second installment of his DC Miller books
"This is one case Miller won't want to open . . .
Unconventional Detective Declan Miller has a problem. Still desperate to solve the murder of his wife, a young man has just appeared on his doorstep with a briefcase . . . containing a pair of severed hands.
Miller knows this case is proof of a contract killing commissioned by local ne'er do well Wayne Cutler - a man he suspects might also be responsible for his wife's death. Now Miller has leverage, but unfortunately he also has something that both Cutler and a villainous fast-food kingpin are desperate to get hold of.
Chuck in a Midsomer Murders-obsessed hitman, a psychotic welder and a woman driven over the edge by a wayward Crème Egg, and Miller is in a mess that even he might not be able to dance his way out of."

I enjoyed the first book and will be looking for this one as well, David. The plot certainly sounds like one to keep us reading. Thanks for letting me know when to expect it.

"Steve Wheeler is enjoying retired life. He does the odd bit of investigation work, but he prefers his familiar habits and routines: the pub quiz, his favourite bench, his cat waiting for him when he comes home. His days of adventure are over: adrenaline is daughter-in-law Amy’s business now.
Amy Wheeler thinks adrenaline is good for the soul. As a private security officer, she doesn’t stay still long enough for habits or routines. She’s currently on a remote island keeping world-famous author Rosie D’Antonio alive. Which was meant to be an easy job . . .
Then a dead body, a bag of money and a killer with their sights on Amy have her sending an SOS to the only person she trusts. A breakneck race around the world begins, but can Amy and Steve stay one step ahead of a deadly enemy?"

"John Rebus spent his life as a detective putting Edinburgh's most deadly criminals behind bars. Now, he's joined them...
As new allies and old enemies circle, and the days and nights bleed into each other, even the legendary detective struggles to keep his head.
That is, until a murder at midnight in a locked cell presents a new mystery. They say old habits die hard...
However, this is a case where the prisoners and the guards are all suspects, and everyone has something to hide.
With no badge, no authority and no safety net, Rebus walks a tightrope - with his life on the line.
But how do you find a killer in a place full of them?"

I am a big Inspector Rebus fan and have read them all and always look forward to the next instalment although I suspect he can't go on to much longer.

The new Logan McRae book by Stuart MacBride is out on May 22nd.
It is called "This House of Burning Bones"
blurb....
"The Granite City is ready to burn, and all it takes is a single spark . . .
In the heat of a blistering summer, Aberdeen’s police are struggling: half the force is off sick, leave has been cancelled, someone’s firebombed a hotel full of migrants, and there’s a massive protest march happening this Saturday.
With officers dropping like flies, Detective Inspector Logan McRae is forced to juggle cases and run a major murder investigation with a skeleton staff of misfits, idiots and malingerers until the top brass can arrange back-up from other divisions.
It doesn’t help that the Aberdeen Examiner has just been bought by Natasha Agapova, a tabloid media tycoon hell-bent on blaming local police for everything. And she’s more than happy to fan the flames.
But, as bad as everything seems, it’s all about to get much, much worse . . ."

Personally I really like MacBride's books so will no doubt get this one too.
