**some of these are older books but they are great reads.

Exactly, the older novels from the 1970's, 1980's and 1990's are so much better than what I'm trying to read these days (and often enough give up before I even reach page 100).

They don't write such novels anymore, maybe with the exception of Douglas Kennedy and Nicholas Sparks.

What I don't like about today's literature: it's mostly fantasy, dystopian or SciFi. Not my cup of tea.
The taste for literature among the young generation has obviously changed very very much!
