The Name of the Wind - The Kingkiller Chronicle # 1

@Smith, eye not chronological age, heeeeeeee ;-)
@Srividya, come on bébé...you want me to sing for you, kya? Ab aa bhi jaao...we need some more luuuuuuuuurve for Kvothe....and if you start reading for sure your Manu buddy will also like it....

I blame my phone's browser, and many tabs open in it, my mind was in lot of places.
I don't hate it, I just don't like it. Hate is a strong word."
Two stars, ya come on...
Polo just fainted...
But you broke my heart, right after you broke Rothfuss'...hear that splintering sound? That was my Kvothe-loving, Rothfuss following heart.....
Don't worry, I shall endeavour to bear up under the weight of your crushing scorn ;-) heeeeeee...
Now Utkarsh....I think you should go put the jigsaw pieces of your mind back into place...while I go listen to the latest bulletin from my khadoos boss....ouch :-(
Polo, cya later gal...

Hmmm...good to know!

Wow, you're sprin..."
Yeah Zaara, it's mostly story-telling that I look for in a book, more than the story itself.Rothfuss has been good.

He he , Zaara. Thanks for the compliments.

But its good to read the discussions going on here. Never thought this thread would touch 500 messages.

Yes, I agree to what you said about Smitha.. She analyses everything before putting up a rating, so its good to read her views always. :)
And Abby will join in, surely. I've booked him ages ago for Book #2. :P
Not sure when though.. Lets see.
Plus, I got impending exams in April or May.. :(
I'm in, after that. Will let you know. :)

Wherever I go, it becomes the most talkative thread. :P

Think so..

Good, na :)

Yes darling.. am also reading it. Just juggling a lot with Quidditch and Bingo and other things, so a little slow to get here to this one.. Nay fear my love, I shall come here before this month ends! :P

People who have read the Lies of Locke Lamora,
did you feel any similarity between Sympathy and Alchemy/bondsmagi magic from that book?

Don't remember much of the latter ...

Both have name calling. Which was surprising to me.

:-) :-) I'm just about to finish...prolly will finish during my lunch hour...only eighty pages or so left...

Why surprising?

That was an amusing part. :P

You are welcome here anytime, O Mighty Ranger! :D

I am loving this!!! :D :D
Come soon!!
I wish I could do away with the spoiler tag, such a pain it is!
But Sri is yet to read this book, and Manu and Vimal are probably reading it, so can't.. :(

That's another thing about the Rothfuss. He makes you stand in Kvothe's shoes so deftly.
I love the conc..."

Hey, btw.. @Zaara, Abhay and lurkers

@S..."
Nothing much :P
Actually I didnt give their argument much thoughts as I was pissed off at the ending.

@Thalaivaa (and you only get this once and ONLY because you so neatly took the words outta my head) ...XACTLY! I'm not an action junkie either, although I do need something to happen every once in a while.
For example in Book 2 of the Broken Empire(and if you haven't read this series yet, Vimal, you just HAVE TO) nothing much really occurs in terms of action, except for a big trip. And yet it's a riveting and justifiably well-praised piece of writing.
It's all about the inner journey vs the outer one (action, loud fizzes and bangs) and this book...had enough of both...to strike a balance.
Where are you now?

Hey, btw.. @Zaara, Abhay and lurkers"
I liked both, Deej, very much. But given a choice, Rothfuss (i.e. the book) over Kvothe any day.

@Polo, (view spoiler)

:-O"
Not intentional. That part didnot stick in my mind. ANd the ending was sort of abrupt. One minute Bast and Chronicler were arguing it out, and lo the next page I turned is "the End". I was baffled

Me too, Rothfuss over Kvothe...
Yes I have read LL books 1 and 2...and have set out my thoughts about those books in excruciating (LOL) detail in my reviews so won't repeat myself here...
@Ab....kya bolta? You will join us na?
@Deej, ignoring us today?
