Hi everyone, I'm Nicole. I've been a member for a while, but I don't think I've ever posted here. Anyway, I live in Gwinnett county, GA and aspire to be a traditionally published YA/NA author. With that in mind, I have a story that I recently finished that I'm looking for some feedback on. Ideally, I'd like to find someone to establish a kind of partnership with, exchanging chapters and providing critiques for each other. Or a mentor. Maybe someone who's been through the traditional process and can look at my work and help me get it "agent ready."
It is a YA story set in a trailer park in Georgia, but I've been told the profanity and drug use make it more of a "mature" YA. There is no graphic sex in the book, though.
Please PM me if you're interested.
Here's the "blurb": Seventeen-year-old Jordyn Bentley lives in a trailer park with her overworked mother and a-hole older brother. Like any trailer park, Emerson Hills is full of drama usually reserved for daytime talk shows. But things get serious when local pageant princess and park resident Emmy Prescott goes missing after shoving Jordyn in front of a truck. All eyes are on Jordyn, who has been Emmy's worst enemy for years and has every reason to want revenge. To make matters worse, Jordyn is being haunted by Emmy's annoyingly cryptic spirit. With accusations flying and an irritating ghost on the loose, Jordyn sets out to prove her innocence and put the b**** to rest with the help of her best friend, Rachel, and Ryan, the hot new guy who moved in across the road. With the cops breathing down her neck, the clock is ticking and it just might take help from beyond the grave to clear her name.
