I remember reading this book around 2018-2021, it wasn’t a very old book, I remember it being somewhere around 400 pages, but that might be wrong because I was reading it online as an eBook. The story is about some kids who get invited to some very rich person’s competition, where they put on some sort of VR suits and become robots in the virtual reality world. In here they are given specific challenges, I remember the first one being something about infiltrating a foreign boat, in where they have to do a specific task. The person who does the worst in that challenge is kicked out, but what they don’t know is the person being kicked out is being sentenced to death. After some time, the kids left find out from the news that they are actually controlling real robots, and if they die in the challenge, they die in real life too, while they are plugged in. They are actually doing these challenges in real life, which they didn’t know the entire time. After their last mission before they escape, which I remember being set in Dubai, they somehow get picked up by the rich guy’s employee, I don’t remember how, and are taken to another facility where they learn that the rich guy is making a death laser of some sort in space, and they need to stop him. What the employee tolls them is that he’s been saving these kids from being killed, and he gives them actual robot suits to take the rich guy down. I don’t really remember what happens after except that they are attacked by clones of themselves in robot suits and one of them has to overload their suit. That’s really all I remember from this book, hope it gets found.
