Review: Jonah has had a hard life. He's a computer analyst for the GBI and his intern Avery, is a ray of sunshine in his life. When his neighbor asks him to look into an old solved case because she felt it was wrong and she's dying. When he does this, all hell breaks loose. Through being cited at work, suspended, tires slashed, and attacked, he works with his friends and gives into his attraction to Avery.

It's great to see this wounded man, fix his heart and learn to love again. Avery is super sweet and the things he does to get Jonah to give in was fantastic, but when Johan jumps in, he jumped in with everything he had.

Well, this is one of them. Great romance, great chemistry and then tension. That was hot.

Review
This was the 1st in the Kate Rees series set in occupied France during WW2. I have to admit I didn’t realise this was the first in a series which added to the suspense of the novel as I wasn’t sure if Kate would survive. Recruited as a sniper following the death of her husband and daughter she is sent to France to assassinate Hitler. After the failed assassination attempt what follows is a fast paced chase through France as Kate attempts to flee the country and through the underground network closely followed by Günter a German officer who is determined to capture her. A really good start to the series that I will probably continue with.

The Amateur Hour show was fun and sounded like it'd be a fun show to watch in real life. And I liked the way the non romantic storylines were wrapped up in the end

Review: It's this kind of low-conflict light romance that I enjoy the most when it comes to romance books. The romance between Mac and Carter is adorable, with most of the "conflict" coming from Mac's commitment issues stemming from her dysfunctional family. I particularly enjoyed the relationship and the interactions between Mac and her friends. There's nothing overly dramatic, and it just feels natural.

Review: I've loved the series so far, but at this point in the series, there is almost zero character development. The main cast have become static, and it's becoming repetitive now. We don't even see much of the other coven members anymore. The mystery is still as creative as ever, but the lack of character development brought down my enjoyment of this book.

This is the 2nd in the DCI Rachel King series. Set in Manchester Rachel is called to a building site where a body has been found shot through the head. Close to the body is another unidentified body of a young girl. As they investigate these two deaths Rachel finds that her past could be linked to these women in a way that could jeopardize her career. A good fast paced page turner but I need to read book 1 as there are many references to previous events.

Review: This is the highest rated book in this series but alas it has been my least favorite thus far. I definitely understand why people really loved this one. However the characters got together too early into the book for my personal taste. When I'm reading a book like this one where it's just purely romance and that's the whole plot I just lose interest when they get together early as I like reading for the tension and buildup and the chase. And if that's going to be over early in the book I just need a driving non romantic plot line as well.

I did like them together as a couple though! Theo was so good to and so good for Winter and I liked seeing Winter's character arc in this one after seeing glimpses of her in previous books.

Review

This was a refreshing mystery set in the 1920s. Phryne is a 1920s socialite who spends her spare time investigating and solving mysteries. She is not the typical socialite having started poor and inheriting money she carries a gun, flies a plan and loyal to her friends. She uses nefarious tactics to gather information which lends a light airy touch to the mystery.

Review: I liked the mystery and the new characters we meet. I'm hoping that it will be related to a bigger problem that seems to be brewing on the horizon, but I could be wrong; the author was quite vague about it. We also get more of a glimpse into Bran and Leah's relationship, but it feels shallow as if just to show the presence of some mutual love in their relationship. There's a scene that deserves the HUH meme, but the author also worded it vaguely albeit with some heavy implications, so I'm not really sure what to think about it.

Review: Slater, Milo and Cody get their story. The romance was a bit slower than it was in the other ones of this series, but really it added to this. Slater deals with Anxiety and Depression and while not something I have experience with personally, my daughter does and the descriptions of how it feels and how he copes, is similar to her. The author dealt with these respectfully and I just loved how these men are together.

They each have their own insecurities, but through (mostly) clear communication, they work through them. 3 damaged men coming together to be better for everyone and ugh, just love it.

How it Fits: Set in a fictional fantasy island
Review: It's very expository in nature, clearly just meant to set things up for the next book in the series. Nothing really happened in this book aside from introducing the three sisters and the rules of this fantasy island. It reads like a slice-of-life novel featuring the normal lives of the three queen candidates and their interactions with their respective circles, up until the last few chapters where plot twists are suddenly thrown out.
