Just so I am clear, I am to read a book Series #4 or 4 as part of the title? And we have a week to read the book and write a review?

Book - The Witches Ladder
Author - Wendy Wang
How it fits - Witches of Palmetto Point #4

That fits the alternative perfectly.

Space: 4
Book: Ryan Reign

Author: Sadie Kincaid
Date Read: 2/18
Rating: 4 stars
How it fits: New York Ruthless #4
Review: Are these books are mostly sex? Yes. Did I figure out the main shocking revelation 2 books ago? Also yes. But do I love the Ryan boys and Jessie anyway? A big resounding yes!

Week #1 ~ Dice Roll #4
Book ~ At Your Service 3* ✔️ 2/19
Author ~ Lexi Blake
Pages ~ 271 pages
How qualifies ~ Masters & Mercenaries: Topped Series #4
Review ~ Javi & Jules worked together at a restaurant. He was a man whore who finally decided that it was time for him to get a sub. The girl he was about to settle down was a total bitch, but he found out about that quickly enough because she made fun of jewels because she had lost her arm and then his brother was dropped off at his place. His brother, Rafe, had lost both of his legs and so now he had to take care of him. Jules helped him out & he got to know how sweet she was. There was a lot of misunderstanding between the a couple of times but basically it just wasn't as good as Lexi Blake normally is for me. I liked it it was funny and parts but it might be my Book Funk and it may just be because them getting together was so rushed. Also the ad guy was a stupid plot point & it was over too easy. I need to stay away from her short books. Her full size novels are so much better. But in the end it was still Lexi Blake, so I had to give it at least 3*.

Week #1: Spot 4
Date Read: 2024.02.19
Book: Four to Score

Pages: 338
How it fits: #4 in book series + Number in title
Rating: 1/5
The plot wasn't that bad, the execution was the one that made this book a nightmare. It literally gives 13 yo fanfic nanowrimo first draft with all the unnecessary messy dialogues. The story follows what it seems to be a grown ass woman that acts like a twenty one yo bounty hunter. It has a little bit of spice but it was well written.
I'm not sure if I hated it because it was that bad or if it was because so many people actually liked it. I was betrayed by those reviews.

I can't wait to see what you think, because I've been dying to read that

How it fits - Witches of Palmetto Point #4
Review - Charlie Payne is a newbie witch, but has always been able to see ghosts and if she touches you, she can see how you die. I liked her originally, but in this book she's a bit of a twit. I don't like her attitude when it comes to dealing with the men in her life. She doesn't want to date these men, but doesn't want to see them be happy. Jason, the cop she sometimes works with, is sleeping with her cousin Lisa. She doesn't seem to want Jason, but she becomes pissed at Lisa and makes Lisa feel uncomfortable every time she comes around. The other guy is Tom. Tom is a mortician and a reaper. She liked Tom well enough, but when she finds out what he is she gets her panties in a wad about it. Tom likes her, has even saved her life on several occasions, but she still holds him being a reaper against him until she needs him. And she needed him quite a a bit in this book.
The series started out fine, but the past couple of books has left me annoyed. I'll be reading the next one but if it seems to still have the same issues, it will be my last.

We roll on Fridays, right? I want to make sure I'm ready!

I have missed a few days of reading time due to ...well, life...so I want to make sure that I am getting things done on time. We only have one vehicle to use now as my fiance needs to have his registration updated, so I am playing chauffeur until the first of the month. I should have a few hours to read tonight and tomorrow and should hopefully be done with the book by Thursday. It has 500 pages if you count the acknowledgments. I am normally a fast reader as long as I am not bothered. I just wanted to update you as far as what I am working on now.

Hopefully this will answer your questions:
✸ Teams will roll the dice by clicking "https://www.random.org/dice/" on Fridays once their team has completed their reads. Please note you will be using two dice for each roll.
**VERY IMPORTANT**
A team CANNOT advance if all the reviews are not complete and in by the deadline. Reviews are due at the latest by end of day on Friday - 11.59pm Central Time. Without a free pass to cover a review still missing by deadline, the team will have to sit out the next roll. That being said, players should have their reviews in on Thursday as your team captain cannot roll until ALL of the team reviews have been posted.

Hopefully this will answer your questions:

Thanks, I just wanted to make sure it was this Thursday that it was due. :)

If you need till Friday, that's not a problem.

Next Tuesday I go in for major foot surgery. I have no idea what to really expect for the following week. I do most of my Goodreads updating from my PC in my library downstairs. If for some reason I am unable to check us in for Week 2 (3/1), would someone else do it for me?

Book - Sir Thursday
Author - Garth Nix
Qualification: #4 in series
Finished: Feb. 22, 2024
Rating: ★★★.5
Review:
I have enjoyed this series as a light read, especially when I just finished reading a heavy high-fantasy book. I thoroughly enjoyed the first two books in this series and didn't remember much of the 3rd book. With this one, it seems more of a build-up to what is to come in the next 3 books. I know we have to go in order of the days (just with how the series is set up), but I'm really looking forward to getting to Saturday. It was interesting to have two different perspectives to read from in order to get a full picture of what was going on, but felt it could have done more with certain circumstances. I am planning to continue the series, but it is becoming clear to me that the Abhorsen series will remain my fave series from Garth Nix at the moment

Review:
Violet Sorrengail was meant to be in the Scribe Quadrant, just like her father was, but her mother, General Sorrengail has other plans for her. She is to join the Riding Quadrant instead. Violet is smaller than her sister and brother and has trouble completing some of the tasks, however, her training as a scribe has helped her out logically and she can solve problems that make her seem as if she is the weakest link.
This book reminds me a bit of The Hunger Games series and Violet actually says at one point that" the odds aren't exactly in her favor"(pg. 146). The training that they have to go through is cutthroat and brutal. Before they even start training they have to run across a parapet and some of them don't even make it to the other side to even begin their training.
Like Harry Potter where the wand chooses the wizard, the dragon chooses the rider. What Violet doesn't have yet in strength and agility, she makes up for in wit. She passes the various stages of training she has to go through in order to make it to the Vale, where the Dragons choose their rider. She is chosen by two dragons which is a first and no one seems to know how to handle the situation, but the dragon rules override the human rules and she has two dragons. Her adult dragon is bonded to another dragon, which in turn bonds the riders.
Yarros is from a military family and she has woven this into the novel and I must say that I am enjoying this series. The next book is Iron Flame and I read there are to be five books in this series. I found this book to be intense and I couldn't put it down. A few times I fell asleep reading it because I was so immersed in it. I normally have two or three books that I am reading at a time, but that was not the case this time.
And because I love to research and compare and such, this is one of those books that I would read over again alongside Joseph Campbell's "The Hero with a Thousand Faces" sorting out the steps of the hero's journey.

Really excited for it💕

Did you catch that we got the extra point for the 2 in 1 option for Michelle V's book? And earned the free pass. Does that need to be included in the combined completion post?

Yes, It should have. You prolly can just post something in the post your spot thread, because you are not supposed to edit it now.

Book - Driving Mr. Dead
Author - Molly Harper
Date Read - 2/24/24
Pages - 180
Rating - 4 Stars
How it fits - Half-Moon Hollow #1.5
Review - A very funny novella in The Half Moon Hollow series. It seems anything and everything can happen to our MC, Miranda. It's like everything she touches or tries to do gets royally messed up. She decided to take a job driving a cranky ass vampire from Washington State to Kentucky. She feels like she needs this time to think about what she wants from her life employment wise and whether or not she wants to marry her boyfriend who seems to have feelings for another girl. She picks up the vampire that she needs to drive and finds he is a bit cranky and obsessed with everything being perfect. Perfect is just not in Miranda's vocabulary and one hilarious mishap after another occurs.
The characters are super funny and well fleshed out. Even though the book was short we get both characters back story and I never felt anything was missing. The only thing I wish is that this would have been longer. These two characters definitely need a full length novel.

Yikes, it can be hard to read when having a fever. I hope you start to feel better soon. I changed mine as well. Between surgery and having to work right up to the night before surgery, i was worried I may not get it done so I went with shorter option.

Week #2: Spot 14
Book: The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie

Pages: 288
How it fits: #4 in book series and starts with M
Rating: 5/5
Amazing. When everyone said that this was Agatha's best book I was a bit skeptical but I can now assure everyone it really is. From the amazing plot (and plot twist!) To all the characters, world building, etc. It was a true masterpiece from the first word.

Week #2 ~ Spot #14
Book ~ Secrets We Keep 3.5* ✔️ 2/27
Author ~ Angel Lawson
Pages ~ 202 pages
How qualifies ~ Thistle Cove Series #1
Review ~ It's all about a mystery that swirls around a girl named Rose that disappears. She used to be Kensley's BFF. Alot comes to light in this first book that all was not as it seemed with Rose. Kenley comes back together with childhood friends Ozzy, Ezra & her crush Finn who was Rose BF. They were all the best of friends supposedly until a new girl came to town right b4 HS & then it all went to shit. Rose disappeared sometime in the 24-48 hrs b4 the first day of their senior year. You find out clues as the book goes along. It seems like everybody has a little piece of the puzzle but nobody knows the full thing. We still don't know if she was murdered if she's just missing or what happened. Book #1 ends on a cliffhanger. I will be continuing on with book #2 when the next dice roll is done.

Week #2, Spot 14
Book: My Lady Jane
Authors:Cynthia Hand Brodi Ashton and Jodi Meadows
Dates Read: February 24,28, 2024
Pages: 491
How it qualifies: It can either be with an 'M' which I originally said (I want to read alternates) or it can be a series - it is Lady Janies#1
Review: This was a slow read for me. I had a hard time focusing on the story. The three authors combined Historical Fiction, Fantasy, Romance, Retelling, etc. all in one. It is a version of Lady Jane Gray keeping her head, mixed with a bit of a fairy tale, and characters who can change into animals.
The book is divided into two parts: the first being closer to history and the second is the retelling where she got to keep her head. I cannot imagine that much stress put on a teenager to be a queen when she did not want to be and then accused of treason. The first part I got through okay, but the second part was just boring. Sometimes books with more than one author just do not flow as well. I thought the characters were well-rounded, but I just could not focus on the second part.
